The audience I aim to target would be the local community and school community, those who work in offices, students, even those who often use their devices.  

• What is the nature of the problem? 

I will be creating a laptop stand but also a stand that could be used for an iPad and have compartments for the necessary work stuff needed to maximize the use of space on working desks. Not only will it be very useful in terms of maximizing the space and expanding the use for iPad but also helps with overall body posture when you are constantly working. The design skills used are most definitely problem solving and creativity.  

• Why should this problem be solved? 

This product will be pushing existing ones as laptop stands are only used for laptops; however, iPads have now become the new laptop for some, in particular, students. It will also have compartments which are not really seen in other designs.  

• How will you solve this problem? 

My solution will assist in solving the three problems, posture, maximized space, and able to use with iPads. It will most likely be made from wood as some wood is easy to shape and design. The size should be made to fit the required laptop or Ipad size and have compartments, also a wide range of adjustments for the height and angle. This product that I am reaching to accomplish requires lots of additional stuff a normal laptop stand would not have, however, I am not an experienced designer. I am a student hoping to learn more about the process of creating different products suitable for different needs.

I have difficulties as an inexperienced designer when it comes to the design process and making sure the computer stand is structurally sound. Although the majority of materials, such as wood and plastic, ought to be supplied by the school, the quality may suffer from insufficient tools and fabrication methods. Aluminum would be preferable, but I lack the necessary experience to fully comprehend how it functions in a short amount of time.
