And we also think that the cold water without the hydrocloride acid would either decrease or stay the same.

- We first had gotten all of our supplies which included, 2 beakers, ocean water, seashells, thermometers, and ice water.
- We poured the ocean water into both beakers equally which was 150 mL each.
- We then put a few seashells into each beaker.
- We put one of the beakers into a cup of ice and put the thermometers in them.
- We then had put 10 mL acid into each beaker.
- We watched the shells start fizzing and the temperature of the water in the beaker in the ice bath.
- We jotted down notes of what was happening and took pictures.

We didn't really know how to do this. We didn't know how much water and acid to put in each beaker. Once we put the acid into our beakers of ocean water and seashells they were only fizzing a little. We didn't actually know if it was supposed to do this so redoing this experiment would let us conform if we did it right or not.

Our hypothesis was the the seashells that where in the cold temp. ocean water would fizz more than the shells in the room temp. ocean water. We where wrong on this for the seashells in the room temp. ocean water fizzed more. After, we actually had looked up if cold ocean water is less acidic and an article stated that colder water is naturally lower in calcium carbonate concentration. We overall came up with that lower temp. ocean waters are less acidic then warmer temp. oceans.

This is the shells in the room temperature ocean water. You can tell just how fizzy the shells are. This was only a few minutes after putting the 10 mL of acid into the beaker.
