Alicia, Megan, Artina and Shawn

Shawn: After looking at some of the examples posted on Trello, I feel that my portfolio could be further enhanced in terms of the graphical aspects. When I look through my portfolio, it looks very unprofessional and poorly done. Firstly, the front cover of my portfolio could be done much better, it just does not have the ‘wow’ factor. I feel that the killer images used could be better and bigger, filling up the whole A3 paper much like Justin’s work. The 3D views could have been in a better layout, the layout that I used makes the portfolio very plain, leaving a lot of white spaces. Other than having a good layout and outstanding graphics, I should also improve on the fonts I use. I should have changed to a better legible font for the title, making it easier for the readers to understand. The font size I use would also play a huge part in emphasizing the things I want to show. Lastly, some of the works shown could be taken down and updated with some of the new work I have done since Y2.

Alicia: To start off, I think I had a very different style of doing my portfolio as compared to my coursemates. Initially, I wanted a minimalist look for my portfolio design. However, for some reason, when I was doing it, I was thinking why not I go for a design which most people would not do. I ended up approaching a fun kind of look for my portfolio. I went on designing and drawing my own fonts to make it look creative and unique . I feel that it was a really fun and joyful process which I enjoyed doing and I believed it was being reflected on my portfolio itself. However, I feel that what was lacking in my portfolio might be the professionalism in it. As compared to others, mine might look kid-ish and messy to some. Because all of us see professionalism in our own different ways. There are some things which i feel that can be added to my portfolio and done better. Firstly, it would be changing my theme to a neater and simple style. However, if I would like to keep the current style, I will have to keep it consistent and make everything seems like it’s one piece. Secondly, I feel that my portfolio is too empty compared to those really good ones as I have yet to compile all the necessary works. Thirdly, I feel that my killer images are not really nice compared to my other coursemates which is also something I would want to work on. Lastly, I will remove my “PFP” works as they are 3years back and not really relevant anymore. I will then add on some of my achievements and participations apart from my school life to show that I have good time management and also a balanced lifestyle.

Artina: Looking back at how my portfolio turns out to be, i feel there is a few a things i can improve on such as using full use of the whole page as the target image. I realise that the format of my portfolio are arranged in a very graphical way and it does not have the wow factor. However, i still believe that everyone will have their own way on creating their portfolio as it reflects our personality as a whole. So far while looking through at a few of others’ portfolio, i have yet to cross 2 portfolio with similar layout and i guess that is how one stands out from another. But i still think there is so many elements that i can change and improve on my portfolio. I realise that i need to take out my ITE work as it is already pass 2-3 years and i believe the skills i can show right now is way better than the previous years. I also feel that it is important to put my most proudest work as the first project so that it will stand out the most. It is really exciting to go through different type of portfolio as it is a source of inspiration.
