Week 1-2
This was the first week of swimming and the students really enjoyed it. I began the first week by introducing the students to water safety and and the correct technique of entering and exiting the pool. I got the students to continuously practice this action to ensure they became familiar with the technique. The students engaged in warm up activities before the each lesson to ensure that they ready and prepared for the lesson. This also allowed the students to become familiar with the water. They really enjoyed this and they all were comfortable in the water. I introduced the students to 'sculling', explaining the important cues involved when performing this technique. (Small and fast rotations of the arms). Some students struggled with this at the beginning but by the second week they had become more confident in doing this. I did this so that the students would have a slight introduction to the stroke that we are focusing on, which is the breast stroke. Its almost like a modified technique of this stroke. I also wanted to get the students familiar with going underneath the water, therefore I got them to engage in different activities to get them putting their heads under water. This worked very well and the students really enjoyed the different activities, such as throwing equipment around the pool and racing to find it. I introduced the students to the arm technique involved in the breast stroke and I showed them videos to further enhance their knowledge of the breast stroke. I allowed the students time to ask questions. They practiced the technique in a standing position at first and when they were comfortable with this they practiced the arm technique by swimming from over and back across the pool. The students worked well and were given time to work in pairs and help each other to critique the arm technique.

Week 1-2
This was time taking part in swimming for PE and I was slightly nervous. I knew that I was a good swimmer but I wasn't very confident swimming. The teacher introduced us to water safety which I thought was very important especially when there was such a big group of us in the lesson. I learned how to get in and out of the pool properly which I had never been taught before. We practiced this over and over until we all felt comfortable performing it. It was a hard technique to get right but once I got it right once I was able to do it perfectly every time after that. We engaged in warm up activities which were really fun and I was definitely ready to start the lesson. One of the activities we did, I thoroughly enjoyed it, we were in groups of 4 and 3 of us had to hold hands in a circle. The person on the outside of the circle had to try catch one person in the group, but you couldn't go under anyones legs. This was really enjoyable and we had a great laugh. I liked this activity as it made everyone begin to feel comfortable in the water. The teacher then introduced us to the skill of sculling. I had tried this before but I wasn't much good at staying afloat for too long. However, I was taught the correct technique for the first time, I always thought that my hands had to make big circular rotational movements but you actually are meant to Make small and fast movements with your hands. I wasn't great at sculling the first week but when we resisted it the second week my technique definitely improved. This was a good introduction to the breast stroke as we were using similar movements. I really liked how the teacher wanted us to get used to getting our heads under water we played small games to become comfortable doing this. The teacher introduced the arm technique involved in the breast stroke and the technical cues, for example rotate arms to a 45 degree angle, then bring them back into the body. this was a tricky technique to get used to but we worked in pairs to assess each other and critique the cues.

Week 3-4
Over these two weeks we recapped on the the breast stroke and the cues that the students had previously learned based on the arm technique. We began both lessons with warm up activities once again to ensure that the students muscles were warm before beginning activity. I introduced the the breathing technique used when performing the breast stroke. I made sure that the students understand the importance of breathing when swimming as this is probably one of the most important aspects of every swim stroke. Firstly I got the students to blow bubbles In the water and get them familiar with the 'bobbing head' movement. This allowed them to practice the movements relating to the breathing technique involved in breast stroke. Once the students were happy with how to perform the breathing technique I got them to get into pairs and peer assess each other based on their arm and breathing technique. At the end of the lessons, we engaged in summative activities which required the students to perform the breathing and arm techniques. We practiced sculling again during these weeks as the student weren't 100% confident in performing this skill. Week by week they were improving this skill and becoming a lot more confident. I could notice that students who had never sculled water before really improving and trying hard to perfect this skill. I was very pleased with the students performance.

Week 3-4
During these lessons we spent time revising the breast stroke cues that we had previously covered. the teacher questioned us about the arm technique and some students demonstrated it to the class. Once again, we took part in warm up activities to get our heart rates up and to ensure that our muscles were stretched for the lesson, this was important to avoid injury. The teacher then introduced the breathing technique to us and its importance when performing the breast stroke. Before we were taught the technique we began by blowing bubbles in the water to get us familiar with the bibbing head movements. This was actually an enjoyable activity and I think it definitely helped me towards practicing my breathing technique. We then had the opportunity to join the arm and breathing technique together. we did the firstly, standing stationary the we performed is across the pool, just doing the arms and breathing technique. We were put into pairs to engage in peer assessment which was very helpful and it gave me the opportunity to see one of my peers performing the techniques which helped me to identify the areas that I needed to work on. We also worked on the skill of sculling again, I was very happy that we got another chance to focus on this skill as I was finding it difficult to master. After this, I became a lot more confident when sculling. The past two weeks have been really enjoyable and my love for swimming is definitely returning.

Week 5-6
The students are feeling a lot more confident at this stage of the term. They are looking a lot more comfortable in the water and eager to get involved in any activities asked by them. We revised the arm and breathing technique and ensured that the students remembered all of the cues. Once again before each lesson I warmed the students, by getting them to engage in small activities. These two weeks I got the students to get into small groups, based on height to mix the students up, and got them to make up their own warm up games. When the students were ready they taught their game to another group and they engaged in each others activities. This worked very well and the students were engaged in their own learning. The students really seemed to enjoy this. I then introduced the students to the leg technique involve in the breast stroke. I explained the cues to them in detail to ensure they fully understood each cue. The importance of flexed feet and the bending of the knee. I also highlighted the importance of the power they had in their legs. The students had an opportunity to question me about this technique and resolve any confusion they may have experienced. Some student were weaker than others therefore I got the students to get into pairs and once again engage in peer assessment as it was effective previous weeks. one student performed the leg movement while the other observed. they practiced holding on to the side of the pool until they were confident enough to practice it going across the pool. I then encouraged the students to put the technique together as a whole. They practiced the arms, legs and breathing all together. The students were good at this but it definitely need practice.

Week 5-6
At this point I feel like I am becoming a lot more confident in the water and I am a lot happier with how my swimming technique is improving. I am really enjoying the games that we are playing as well as the swim stroke that we are learning. The teacher changed up the warm up these weeks and they were really enjoyable, we had to work in groups to come up with warm up activities and then teach them to another group. This was really fun as we could think of any game that we liked. It was really nice to try something different and to be responsible for our own learning. the teacher then gathered us back together and taught us the leg technique that is part of the breast stroke. She carefully went through the cues with us and allowed us time to ask questions. We practiced this leg movement while holding on to the wall until we had corrected our technique. Then we got an opportunity to swim across the pool practicing the leg technique. Once we were confident in doing this, we put all of the techniques we had learned for the breast stroke all together and practiced going over and back in the pool. We engaged in peer assessment once again, I practised going across while my partner watch from the side of the pool, then we swapped roles. We provided our partners with feedback using the feedback sandwich which worked very well. I learned a lot from my peers, although I personally need to more practice performing the breast stroke.

Some students who were weak at the start are now extremely confindent in performing the breast stroke. We recapped on the stroke and I used question as a form of assessment for the students. I questioned the students about the different cues involved as well as the importance of water safety. I also assessed the students to ensure that they remembered the correct technique of entering and exiting the pool. During these weeks I got the students to engage in fun activities while still ensuring that they were completely the breast stroke correctly. the students engaged in activities such as relays and races to finish off the module. the students really enjoyed this. In activities where competitiveness is involved students can often forget their technique, therefore I awarded points for technique and correct use of skills. The students really enjoyed these activities and o could see how comfortable they were in the water in particular going underneath the water and also performing the skill of sculling.

We weere assessed through observation by the teacher oh our ability to get into and out of the pool. this was a skill we learned early on in the term and we conitinulosly practiced in throughout each lesson. We were also question about the cues of the breast stroke which I thought was a very good idea to remind us of the correct technique. We have the chance to get involved in some really enjoyable activities and we got to engage in some relay races. These relays involved us getting into the pool using the correct technique, sculling for 30 seconds and then performing the breast stroke down the pool and back up again. We were awarded points every time we performed the techniques correctly which I think was very fair and made everyone focus on the technique.
