Teaching this lesson about 2D shapes to KG2 children was a fantastic experience. Combining art, movement, and language made learning bothinteresting and meaningful for the kids. They absolutely loved starting with the Shape Song, which really got them excited and ready to dive into learning. During the collage activity, most of the children easily recognized and creatively used various shapes. I noticed that using real-life objects wasparticularly helpful in showing them how shapes fit into their everyday world. The Shape Hop game was another highlight, providing a fun and active way to check their understanding of shapes. If I had the chance to teach this lesson again, I’d definitely prepare more shape cutouts in various sizes and colors.This would give more visual support to those who need it. I’d also extend the time for the art activity since some students wanted more time to completetheir collages. In conclusion, the lesson successfully met its objectives. The kidsshowed clear improvement in identifying shapes and discussing them withmore confidence.
