A certain aspect that both societies share is a certain implicit caste system. The caste system in the Brave New World is much more radical than the one found in the United States. The caste system in the World State divides certain individuals randomly from birth adjusting their genes in order to fit the different social systems where as in the United Sates, the caste in which an individual is born in is based off of their socioeconomic status. This is demonstrated when each individual is genetically mutated and conditioned to love their caste system in the World State at birth through different techniques such as hypnopaedia. The quotes above depict the conditioning and mutations that certain individuals go through in order to promote stability throughout the society. This is drastically different from the caste system in the United States because it is not as radical and as forced as the one found in the other society. The unspoken social classes in the United States divides families by their wealth in the certain classes: lower, middle, and upper. The families in the lower classes have the least amount of wealth between the middle and upper classes. The families in the upper classes have much more wealth than the other two social classes. Although the social classes are predetermined from birth, an individual is still able to change between the social classes depending on their actions. The flexibility of the social classes in the United States is one of the main aspects that separates this society with the other. For example, World State citizens are addicted to soma because they believe it will bring them pleasure and happiness. This is similar to how many modern day citizens are controlled by money. Money influences people's behavior, lifestyles, and motives. Both societies are controlled and conditioned by pleasure and depend on these items. Modern society is becoming more like the society in Brave New World because we both crave the inventions of medicine, science, and universal happiness. Therefore, people live on money, just like how World State citizens live on soma. For example, when Lenina and Linda were at the Reservation, they craved soma because it was the only cure to their sadness. This is similar to many in poverty because they need money for daily essentials and financial support for their family.
