According to psychologist, the population in Mexico that it’s mainly affected is the teenager population, because of the straight relationship and closeness we have to electronic devices, and because they’re an important part of our way of living. Usually we tend to use the functions from the electronic devices to our benefits, when it can actually be both negative or positive, but mostly negative, because generally when a product is launched we try to adjust our lives to it, and we include it on our way of developing through life, and we abuse of the new product, that we close ourselves into it, not letting anyone break that wall, and it’s also considered by many experts as a repellent, because by giving the product a huge part of our attention we, stop seeing our surroundings, and start pushing things out of our life.

Sherly Tuckle

Sherry Tuckle, a psychologist gave a TED Talk back in 2012 where she analyzed the different effects that phones have in our lives, and gave a mighty fine job at it as well. Back in the dawn of the Internet, meaning the early 90’s, she wrote a book about the infinite possibilities that the brand new invention could provide, that would in some way improve our way to connect. Now, about 20 years later, she wrote another book “Alone Together” which explores where technology is taking us and how society adapts to answer new questions brought on by the rise of mobile technologies, robots, computers, and other electronic gadgets. In particular, the author Turkle, raises concerns about the way in which genuine, organic social interactions become degraded through constant exposure to illusory meaningful exchanges with artificial intelligence. There is a deep irony underlying Turkle's central argument: that the technological developments which have most contributed to the rise of inter-connectivity, have at the same time bolstered a sense of alienation between people. The ideas that Tuckle exposed seemed very counterintuitive when compared to her previous works. In her speech, she used her 20 y/o daughter as an example for these certain ideas. When she saw her with her friends, she couldn’t help but notice how oddly ironic it is that she was with her friends, but her and her friends are on the phone. They are together… but alone. Phones have affected in a way that we are afraid to be alone, and we use an “escape route” to avoid that feeling of senselessness. We escape our reality, to enter it virtually. It’s sad honestly. Humans have fought their way to where we are, and this realm does not appeal to us in any way.
