A firewall is a software/firmware that implements a set of rules about what packets will be authorised to enter or leave a network. A firewall typically establishes a barrier between a trusted internal network and untrusted external network, such as the Internet.

A one way firewall is when the direction of flow goes only one way - from the client to the server

A two way firewall is allows the flow of data to go both ways.

A user account is a location on a network server used to store a computer user name, password and any other information. A user account allows or does not allow a user to connect to a network, another computer. Any network with multiple users requires user accounts.

Types of user accounts on windows 10:

Administrator - This account controls the entire computer, it also decides who plays with it. It also sets up the other users on the computer.

Standard - Access most of the computer, but cant make any changes to it. for example cant run or install new programs but can run existing.

Child - this is the same as a standard account but

Guest -

What is antivirus
Antivirus software is a program or set of programs that are designed to prevent, search for, detect, and remove software viruses, and other malicious software like worms, Trojans, adware, and more.

Antivirus Windows
For windows, you will NEED an antivirus, this is due to how common malware is for windows.

Antivirus Linux
Linux typically doesn't need an antivirus, the core reason you don’t need an antivirus on Linux is that very little Linux malware exists in the wild. Malware for Windows is extremely common. Shady advertisements push nasty software that is practically malware, file-sharing sites are full of infected programs, and malicious individuals target security vulnerabilities to install Windows malware without your permission.

In windows 10, permissions are based on user accounts, with the file owner or administrator being able to change its status from full access to read-only access to being hidden.

Linux uses a different set of rules based on a "root" user and modular Read, Write, and Execute permissions, with the root user being able to modify the status of a file. this allows combinations such as files than can be written to but can't be read or executed, or a file that can be read and written to but not executed.
