Knowing all local resources or resources within a 50-100 mile radius.
2. Provide real life experiences throughout their school career and be in communication with services at younger ages. Get kids involved.

Problem: Students with disabilities are often not given opportunities from a young age to make choices based on their preferences.
Solution:
1. Start as young as possible to ask "What would you like to do in this situation...?" and respect their answer as much as is feasible.
2. Other self-determination questions to ask are "What are your plans today?" or "How will you accomplish that."
**I really like how a simple rephrasing puts the student in the driver seat! Good idea! Erin

Possible solutions:
1. Have a support person with equal access to the account to ensure spending is reasonable
2. Use small amounts of cash each week to slowly but surely work up to making responsible decisions with money
3. Discuss the advantages of saving money and determine a reasonable amount to set aside each month.
- Martin
