After your slideshow last week, I learned that hurricanes lose power when they hit land. The reason they can be so dangerous is because they will stay in one place for a long time and flood areas.

My grandparents were affected by Hurricane Laura. I remember they said that they were not worried because they lived in the central part of the state and had never had any major hurricanes hit them before. This hurricane made its way all the way to Pollock, Louisiana where many people were out of power for weeks. It was completely shocking to everyone and they were not prepared.

Hurricanes are big storms that form in the ocean. Once they hit land, they produce a lot of rain and tornados. They can flood areas, snap trees, and damage buildings with wind and rain.
