         <description><![CDATA[<p>http://www.tolerance.org<p>Teaching Tolerance is committed to reducing prejudices, improving intergroup relations and supporting equitable school experiences for our nation’s children. They publish magazines twice a year distributed to schools, youth directors, houses of worship, and non-profits working with youth.&nbsp;This website is intended to be used as a tool outside of the classroom. They have listed many resources and topics the teacher can access.&nbsp;Such topics include; media literacy, rights, diversity and bullying.&nbsp; Teaching Tolerance’s teaching materials have won two Oscars, an Emmy and more than 20 honors from the Association of Educational Publishers, including two Golden Lamp Awards, the industry's highest honor, so this website is credible.&nbsp;They teach to not have biases.&nbsp;This website’s is all about social and cultural differences.&nbsp; This website allows teachers to address more modern issues regarding bullying and rights.&nbsp; This website currently has raised awareness to teaching strategies, reflective teaching and school/classroom climate. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/">http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/</a></p><p>Authorized under Title III of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the NCELA supports the U.S. Department of Education's <a href="http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oela/index.html">Office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students (OELA)</a> in its mission to respond to Title III educational needs,&nbsp;and implement NCLB as it applies to English language learners (ELLs). NCELA is operated by the George Washington University (GW), Graduate School of Education and Human Development under contract from the U. S. Department of Education. The contents of the website, including links to external sites, do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the Department of Education nor does the mention of trade names, commercial products, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government. The website is meant for adults to get resources about ELLs and provide them with resources to new research, articles, findings, etc. to better meet their needs.&nbsp; OELA's National Clearinghouse collects, coordinates, and conveys a broad range of research and resources in support of an inclusive approach to high quality education for ELLs which provides credibility.&nbsp; They also have the third party Google Translate service as an option for six different languages on this website. There are a variety of webinars for professional development on how to meet the needs of ELL students. They also provide publications in English and Spanish, and helpful tips on how to educate ELL students. </p>]]></description>

NABE National Association for Bilingual Education

         <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.nabe.org/">http://www.nabe.org/</a><br></p><p>The NABE is the only organization representing ELL students and bilingual educators. It provides professional development opportunities and partners with other civil rights and education organizations for the interest of ELL students. The organization also provides lobbying for federal and state funding for ESL programs. Job seekers can also use the online career center. Obviously the website and organization believes in the benefit of bilingual education and supports issues related to bilingual students. Therefore, some of the resources and links provided on the website have to with legislation having to due with bilingual education, and immigration. Some people may not agree with these issues and feel like there is a bias. This site establishes credibility by providing research based information and provides information about the benefits of bilingual education.</p>]]></description>

This is a site in which a teacher or researcher can join the organization and get resources to advance and improve their craft. The site contains a resources section which will lead the reader to other similar groups, as well as a listserv to help contact other professionals. They have a blog, a journal, conferences, links to find jobs, links to take a TESOL online course and earn CEUs, virtual seminars, and offers scholarships to help members attend TESOL conventions. It is from an educator's point of view and there may be some biases. They have a worldwide calendar of events that has conferences from all over the<br>world listed.<span>&nbsp; The hot issues tab provides current information about the hot topics in education.&nbsp; This sight is a highly credible international organization.</span></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.cal.org/"><u>http://www.cal.org/</u></a></p><p>CAL is a private non-profit organization working to improve communication through better understanding of language and culture. They promote the use of language and different cultures. This is a great tool for educators/businesses looking for research based information.&nbsp; This website focuses in making a difference in teaching second languages to more than just grade school children.&nbsp; CAL offers refugee and immigrant integration services that create materials and curricula specific to their needs and education level.&nbsp;There appears to be no bias but to bring valuable contributions to the field and their work is credible. CAL has received funding from, among others, the U.S. Department of Education, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Rockefeller Foundation, and local and state education agencies.&nbsp; </p>]]></description>

CAL and TESOL provide online training for teachers as well. NCELA, TESOL, NABE, and&nbsp;NCELA also are professional organizations. CAL and Education Alliance offer information about SIOP, a specific, common, and popular&nbsp;strategy/method for teaching ELLs.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>While not directly related to teaching ELL Teaching Tolerance is a great website to address prejudices and&nbsp;issues schools are facing&nbsp;on a daily basis.</p><p>CAL has a foreign language assessment directory for free that searches over 200 assessments in 90 languages other than English.&nbsp; This is pretty unique when comparing what websites have to offer. </p><p>CAL and TESOL have online databases available. </p>]]></description>
