In order to maximize efficiency of the content and material but to also create a full classroom community where students do not feel segregated, I think practices of Co-teaching modals 4-6 work well for that.

Instructional activities are smaller group discussions, writers' workshop, and strategy practice. Drawbacks of these models are that the two teachers may be less well-aligned than they think and that moving students/desks can be a hassle.

One drawback of one teach/one observe is how that appears to the students (I guess it depends how often it is used). If it happens often it does end up looking like one person is the lead teacher and the other is "support staff." Sometimes that works great but after a while, do students start to direct themselves more towards the teacher teaching? Or does it maybe work the opposite way even--where students feel comfortable going to the observer because of their more removed role? Could work both ways.
