Henry Hudson was born in England, U.K, in the year 1565. One reason he might of wanted to become an explorer is that he hoped to find a passage for a quick trip to China for spices and silk. 2 of his special abilities that made him ready to be an explorer are that he was a great navigator and his grandfather was one of the founders for the Muscovy Company. England supported his journey, and he left on April 19, 1607. He was looking for a route straight across the North Pole but he didn’t find it. Some difficulties he experienced was that the food supplies was low and there was mutiny. Plus, when they came to Iceland there was really bad weather. He is famous because he was a determined early explorer and Hudson Bay was named after him. His journey ended when his crew left him to die. He died near Hudson Bay, Canada, C.June 22, New York, 1611.

Ponce de Leon was born in 1460 in Santervas d De Campos Spain. He joined military campains. His dad taught him how to fight and he was a soldier. He learned social skills. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand paid for his travels. When he left was in 1492. His purpose of traveling was because he wanted to find gold and he was also looking for the Fountain of Youth. He did have some difficulties by fighting, and getting hurt. He was a famous explorer he named the state of Florid. He found out there was no gold. In February 1521 Ponce de Leon left Puerto Rico for a second exploration of Florida records are scarce but some accounts describe a poorly organized trip. The expedition landed somewhere on the western side of the Florida peninsula where it was soon attacked by Calusa warriors. Ponce de Leon wounded in the confrontation possibly by a poison arrow to his thigh. He went to Cuba where he died in July 1521.
