The poem “Those Winter Sundays” and “The Gift” both include the importance of a father. They both talk about how dads are not appreciated as much as they have to be. I believe that both poems send the same vibe and message, which is that you have to appreciate a father.

In the poem "Those Winter Sundays" the dad is working hard to provide his family with warm weather and to keep them warm during the frosty winter season, and on a weekend.

In the poem O Khalifa, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed praises Sheikh Khalifa for all that he has done for him and for the UAE. He displays him as an answer to people's hopes and needs, following in his father's footprints "Sheikh Zayed" may Gid rest his soul. Sheikh Zayed has done everything for this country, but if Sheikh Khalifa didn't complete in his footsteps this country will never be the land of gold that it has become.

First of all both poems talk about the speakers' love toward their fathers. In "The Gift" the speaker talks about how the poet loves his father and he gave him a kiss. There is no negative emotion . But in "Those Winter Sundays" , the speaker talks about how he regrets not thanking his father for his hard work everyday, and there was anger in the house .

In both poems, “The Gift” and “Those Winter Sunday’s”, the father’s role is crucial in the development of the son. However, in “The Gift”, the father is very loving towards his son and cares for him whilst in “Those Winter Sundays” the poet, for some reason, has a genuine fear of his father. This shows the different ways fathers bond with their children.

He was an answer to the people’s hopes for a rich and stable life.
