The clinical skills sessions have been my favourite, especially the baby bathing one. The theory sessions have been interesting and full of detail but at times a lot to take in. Theory sessions could be made slightly more interactive eg. including group activities, this can help solidify understanding and helps to prevent repetitiveness of simply making notes. The idea to have optional quizzes to do in our own time would also be beneficial.

I have thoroughly enjoyed both clinical as well as theory based sessions. Found the practical really helpful as it allowed me to get hands on and see how confident I am. A lot of the theory based lessons are very detailed and informative however I would recommend maybe using different methods of portraying the information rather than power point slides all the time, maybe more videos, quiz's, group work based approach. Also maybe having a summary at the end of lectures to cover what we have gone through.

I have really enjoyed all clinical sessions as well as the theory sessions. I do feel that some lessons have been a lot to take in and quiet mind boggling. Maybe a mix up of different teaching styles instead of power points every lecture as some other have mentioned and more interactive quizzes would be beneficial. other than that I have loved it all so far.

The clinical skills sessions have enabled me to understand the information that we are given in lecture and I find it easier to relate. Due to the amount of information we have to know in regards to postnatal care I think it would be more beneficial to do more interactive sessions as this for me is an easier way for me to remember information.

I really enjoy how we can get the chance to learn the theory behind skills and them practise them, I feel that this really embeds my knowledge. Quiz or questions to give out to do in are own time will be amazing to do, just in case I miss any information while am already writing notes. I also feel video's thelp with understanding further.

I've really enjoyed this module so far. Some of the most useful parts have been in the practical sessions, not even specifically the stuff we're learning/doing (although that's been good too), but the chance to chat to the lecturers, pick their brains and find out about their experiences with the women they've cared for. We ended up asking Rachel about a million questions in our baby bathing practical, most of which were unrelated to what we were doing, but it was a really nice environment and atmosphere to do that. More time to talk through practical skills and experiences like this would be really nice, perhaps small seminar sessions or something, where we could talk through situations and put our theory into practice.

So far I have really enjoyed this module, the clinical skills lessons have been really helpful in linking theory to practice and have been a good way to talk to the lecturers about their own experiences . I would find it helpful having more screencasts on some of the PowerPoint presentations that we don't have much time to go through in lessons to be able to gain a better understanding . Overall I've found the course very full on but so interesting and exciting .

I actually really enjoy how the theory is taught. I would say screencasts are useful only if it gives more info than reading the stuff off the slides. I think sessions on the challenges of breastfeeding could be useful e.g how to help someone who's baby won't latch, poor supply, twins etc.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the first few weeks on the course. In terms of the foundations for postnatal care module this has been a favourite for me. The clinical skills session I have enjoyed the most, due to being able to put my skills into practice and it making it all seem a lot more realistic for me! The clinical skills lessons have also enabled me to learn new skills which I have enjoyed. In terms of theory I have found the sessions very useful and have come away with a lot of knowledge and understanding. However I feel as though more interactive work (especially for A and P with our peers would be useful as I find group work is helpful with knowledge and understanding! A few more screen casts on the directed learning is something I would suggest as I have struggled to get my head around some topics!! I am loving the course and I'm excited to see what is on offer over the next 3 years.

This course has been really interesting and enlightening, even more than anticipated! I've found learning about postnatal care, both the theoretical and practical sides, extremely fascinating. Learning about the physiological and psychological changes women go through has been eye opening, and being able to apply said theoretical learning to practice during clinical skills has been really helpful. I agree with others with reference to quizzes or access to past exams, as I believe they would help to test gained knowledge and prevent it from deteriorating.

So far what I have enjoyed about this module is the clinical side because I feel like I learn better when I am doing practical work rather than just listening for hours. But I found both listening in lectures and making notes and doing practical work very interesting. It is a lot to take in as there is so much to remember and work just keeps piling on. The topic I found the most interesting is the anatomy and physiology of everything, the changes in women and what their body goes through during pregnancy. The thing that I found difficult was is when the lectures are too long, l lose interest quick and sometimes the lecturer talks to fast and if I'm writing down notes at the same time it is hard to listen to what is being said. I would like it if there are more quizzes and tests which can test our knowledge and understanding of what we learned about in each session.

So far I have really enjoyed studying this module. I think the way the lectures are taught is good and interactive. Tutors have listened to feedback, for instance switching our theory lesson around so we had it before the clinical skills lesson as this allowed us to gain more from the practical. Some of the lectures which cover difficult topics I find are too long. It’s sometimes like I’ve just managed to get my head above water and then we move on to the next stage and I get completely lost and feel as though I’m drowning again. The menstrual cycle and ovulation for instance with Rachael, I had just got my head around it then I got more and more lost. I really like the consolidation sessions as it’s nice to be in small groups and do team work, I think these are rather fun and it was nice as we were able to chat to Rachael about her experiences at work and also life out of work. The clinical sessions are also very good. It’s a brilliant way to put what we’ve learnt into practice and again, it’s nice to talk to whoever is running the session about their experiences. I find Jo’s screen casts particularly helpful as it summaries up the topic and it’s also a good way to gain information that I may have missed in the lecture.

The clinical skills session on baby bathing and newborn checks was my favourite so far. it brought together previous leaning from this module which helped inbed the information taught. Id find it useful to have more screencasts like Jo does in her modules for the more difficult topics as some of the longer lectures can loose me a little. But overall im enjoying it

My favourite part of the course so far is the clinical skills sessions, as I feel they are the perfect way to put your knowledge into practice before going on placement, and they make the things we learn in lectures all make sense. I think in relation to doing work out of uni, the screencasts are a really good way of ensuring everything makes sense, as they are explain things more clearly, which make it stick more than just reading it ourselves.

So far, I have really enjoyed the teaching in postnatal care. Even though the content can be tricky, the lectures are amazing at explaining things to you if you don't understand it and they are extremely approachable so it's never nerve wracking to ask anything. Thanks for being supportive!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the teaching on breastfeeding/infant formula support and the clinical skills session on care of the newborn and involution of the uterus. I would say there isn't anything I haven't enjoyed learning however, I have a tendency to switch off somewhat within the longer lectures, as I struggle take the information in solely from a powerpoint presentation. I feel extra activities such as quizzes, labelling diagrams or group tasks etc help me a lot more to consolidate information and really take it in.

I've enjoyed the foundations for postnatal care so far. I think some of the research lectures are perhaps in the wrong place - maybe these should be nearer to when we will be starting assignments? Also, I'm not sure if the benefits of breastfeeding have really been hammered home yet? I've come from the Volunteer Doula Project and it was really emphasised to us there, but in a very enthusiastic and infectious way (the guest speaker was Nawal El Amrani and she is AMAZING!). I've really enjoyed learning about the physiology after birth and the amazing things our bodies do. I may not be popular, but I enjoy being set "homework" such as diagrams to label etc - it forces you to go away and research a bit more.

I have found this module engaging and interesting. The lecturers seem passionate and very knowledgeable about the topics, which causes me to really engage in the sessions and to carry out further research when I get home. I feel it would have been more beneficial to have the Introduction to the Infant Feeding Workbook session towards the start of the module as we've been encouraged to fill it in throughout the term. This means that I have answered questions before I completed lectures on them meaning that I missed out some important and helpful information. My favourite aspect was the Clinical Skills workshops and found them really interesting.

The lecturers are all very approachable and easy to talk to and I find their methods of teaching and presentations very useful. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the clinical skills sessions as they really help me to understand how the practice works. I have found the postnatal module interesting, especially the sessions on breastfeeding. The only thing I would say is that sometimes i find accessing things on blackboard confusing, and don't always know what has to be done at what time, maybe a bit more information could be given?

So far, I have really enjoyed learning about the postnatal aspect of the role of a midwife. It has really opened my eyes to the level of support and education we can give mothers and their families. I have especially enjoyed the clinical skills sessions as they help me to see how the theory can apply to practise so directly. I am especially enjoying the trigger for this module as i love researching into real life situations and what i would do in those scenarios; i would say it may be improved by using different women for the trigger rather than the same as in the antenatal trigger as it caused some confusion. Other than that i am thoroughly enjoying this module and am looking forward to future learning
