A Day in My Life

I woke up on the right side of the bed today, hoping I would still have some minutes before fajr prayers. It was one of those Saturday where I have to attend to campus for a MUET seminar.

By 7.45 am, my friends and I headed to campus by car. As we reached the campus, there were lots of foundation students across the lobby because none of us knew the venue. Even Mr Alif Fairus, our lecturer for the seminar was clueless.Time dragged for almost an hour settling down registers and electrical complications. Therefore, it concluded to all that this seminar would be stretched thin on time until the end of the programme.

The seminar lasts from 9.30 am to 5 in the evening including intervals for morning and lunch break. I tried my best to focus during the session but there was once I literally fell dead asleep for like one hour straight. Luckily, that session was a reading and comprehension activity. So, Mr Alif did not talk much and I caught up with everyone few minutes after I woke up.

The most interesting session for me, I think anybody else too, was the speaking session where we have to sit in groups and cram our heads to produce ideas that could turn into a 10-minutes discussion. It was hard for me, as I am bad at vast vocabularies and brilliant ideas does not always hit me when I want it to. Nonetheless, Mr Alif made it interactive and fun for us. He always points out mistakes that students take for granted and emphasizes on important advices.

The seminar ended at like 5.30 pm and I went back to hostel and had an early dinner. Thenceforward, I was basically on the phone until sunset. I performed my prayers while waiting for traffic to subside because I wanted to drive back home. I am still new to driving on highways and apparently getting stuck in traffic is quite a nightmare.

Finally, I started driving at 9.45 pm and traffic was smooth as silk. I reached home safely where my baby brother was the first to welcome me. The end .

Sunday, 25 Feb '18
1.17 am

My 5-Year Plan

When it comes to planning, I might be second best because the first one will always be my mother. I am still learning to swiftly organize my schedule for the whole day, whilst my mom will have everything writte down in her head. But, I can say that I have the basics.

My aim for the next 5 years is all about graduating and finding work experience. I have intention to continue my studies overseas during third year in Australia or if I have good results, I will aim National University of Singapore where all the elite engineers are born.

During my degree studies, I am looking forward to join up volunteering here and there. I will also hunt for extra knowledge like going on educational or humanitarian talks to get a firm grip in current life issues. Apparently, CUCMS clubs have a lot to offer. I have joined several talks since last year and even went to a village of indigenous people to
teach basic knowledge to the children.

I have also considered the fact that Malaysia is economically unstable by the time I graduated. Thus, if I get unemployed, highest possibility is I will join up humanitarian jobs. This allows me to meet and see people from different perspective of life and learn to improve myself. If I am lucky enough, I might bump into an uncle or aunty who can offer me a job.

In a nutshell, I want to live my life to the fullest and not wasting time even if I am unemployed or on semester breaks. Humanitarian jobs might not sound like much of a work, but the values attained from it always give me sprinkles of motivation to be the best among people. This is just a vague plan but if it does not turn out the way I vision it, I will just make a new plan. Because, sometimes life just does not go your way. ;)

I planned to stay back that weekend because MUET test was on the Saturday. Later I called my mother and Ali, my younger brother got admitted to a hospital for suspect of Dengue fever. So, I drove back to Shah Alam on Sunday morning to help out with the chores at home while my mother handled Ali.

When night time came, I planned to drive back to Cyberjaya. My parents agreed as I have class the next day. But deep down, I felt bad for Ali as he was left alone at the hospital that night. So, I told my parents that I will go back the next morning because class would start at 11 am. but would accompany Ali for that night.

When I came to his room, the doctor reported that he was infected by Influenza B and I had to wear the mask all the time. I did not mind anyways so I obeyed but still chatted with him a lot. At around 11.30pm, a nurse came in and took his temperature then gave pills to consume. I stayed up until around 1 am to make sure he gets his sleep and slept at another empty bed beside Ali's.

The next morning, he woke up way earlier than I did and even tried to wake me up because my alarm was annoying. The nurse also came in but still the bed was too comforting for me. I had thought Ali liked it too, but he was in pain. He could not go back to sleep after that so I stayed longer until he finished his breakfast. At 8.30 am, I took my leave hoping that he will be fine. I drove back home and took a quick bath, a breakfast and a short playtime with the youngest brother. I managed to drive off while he got distracted with playing splashes of water in the garden.

My mother warned me to use another way to Cyberjaya since traffic was bad. I took a route I have never used before on my own although even that route have a mild traffic congestion. I was lucky for not getting lost and reached campus barely on time.

I am very much alive, so as Ali.
