I've been working on a curriculum to expand history lessons past my current knowledge. I've been reading/studying Indigenous history and hispanic history as well as LBGTQ Civil Rights. All of these groups were part of the civil rights movement but are often let out and I want to be sure that I include them when talking about history. I'm also in the process of learning more world history (specifically Asian History) because my knowledge rally explodes at about 1530-1960 and I'm a little fuzzy before that time. I do this because I think it is super important to be able to talk about different cultures at any given point in any conversation in any era.

Multicultural Education Is a Process Curriculum and materials represent the content of multicultural education, but multicultural education is, above all, a process. This part of the reading stood out to me because as was stated, it is not a one time, check the list event. This is how school has been handling multicultural topics, as an "event" It is ongoing and dynamic because no one ever stops becoming a multicultural person and knowledge is never complete.

As a teacher I will use Multicultural approaches in all lesson plans and in my delivery of core content. I have the advantage of using performers, artists, and influential stage actors to get my students attention. 2 years ago I arranged a staycation field trip that brough Voltaire Wade Green to our school. Voltaire was the asst choreographer of Hamilton. What a wonderful experience that was for our students, but I realized that a one time event does not translate into multicultural education. This text has helped me understand that.
