Welcome to LRC Sexuality Education Services! My name is Lea R. Cortez! I am a trained Sexuality Educator, DD - Aide, and a certified PEERS provider. I have been serving children, youth, adults, and families for over 15 years in various settings. I became a trained Sexuality Educator in 2021. I specialize in providing support to those who identify as Neurodivergent and/or identify as having an Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD). I also have experience in providing trauma-informed care to survivors of trauma (i.e., domestic violence, sexual abuse). Everything I do is tailored to my individual clients and is holistic in nature. I serve folks within IL and outside of IL virtually.

My name is Lea Reniva - Cortez or Lea R. Cortez for short. My first name is pronounced like Lay-ah, like Princess Leia from Star Wars. I am a wife and a proud mom of 2 beautiful children who are also Neurodivergent like me. I am diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, type 2 diabetes, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS, formerly termed PCOS), and Metabolic Syndrome. I am a survivor of Papillary Thyroid Cancer and also a trauma survivor. I have loved ones who live with Autism and Down Syndrome. It's because of my beautiful and amazing loved ones and my professional experiences that I was inspired to become a Sexuality Educator. I first-hand understand many of the struggles my clients have gone through or are currently struggling with, which makes my purpose and drive for what I do so personal to me.

I am working towards achieving a dual Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling at Walden University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling. I have a degree in Medical Assisting. I am a registered DD-Aide. My professional experience includes providing direct patient care through home health care and assisted living facilities. I formerly worked as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) and served for 10 years in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy. I served for over 8 years in social services, and for about 3 years supporting victims of crime. I have been providing sexuality education since 2021. I love what I do and do it with all my heart. LRC Sexuality Education provided 1:1 education services in-person or virtually to all individuals aged 18 years and older. For children and youth between the ages of 8 - 17 years old, parental/guardian consent must be given. This is a great option to choose if you want to learn and grow on your own. Holistic sexuality education covers a wide range of topics from puberty, body boundaries, pregnancy, healthy relationships, safe dating, safe sex, menopause, dating after experiencing abuse, human sexuality across the lifespan, and more. All services are holistic, meaning what you learn is driven by you and tailored to your individual needs.

Group Education & Professional Presentations

Are you looking to bring holistic sexuality education on a specific topic to a large group? I provide in-person, virtual, workshop-style, or webinar-based presentations to groups on specific topics related to human sexuality. Whether you are trying to support a parent group, a social group, your employees, host a special event for your local library, or just want to learn with friends about a specific topic, this option is for you. Past topics I covered include human sexuality across the lifespan, addressing inappropriate sexual behaviors, sexual abuse prevention, cyber safety, puberty, and self-care, to name a few.

Sliding Scale starts at $125 per hour

Non-profits and libraries are given 30% discount on their total cost.

LRC Sexuality Education strongly believes that parents should be their child's #1 sexuality educator. Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

If you have a uterus, you go may experience heavy flow days while on your period. When is a heavier flow day too heavy? Heavy menstrual bleeding may be happen if you are:

Bleed for more than seven days
Soak through a pad or tampon every one to two hours
Need to use both a pad and tampon for protection
Pass blood clots the size of a quarter (about 1 inch or larger)
Wake up at night to change protection due to bleeding
