Welcome to our classroom website. I am Shantel Hampton, or to the students, Mrs. H. Here is where you can check on class wide news and updates, important dates, and homework due dates. I recommend checking in a few times a week for important communication. If it is urgent or something that I need you to know last minute, I will reach out to you via email or send communication home with your student. 
 I have three wonderful children with my husband of 14 years. My hobbies include cooking, coaching track and field, and shopping. I also enjoy competitive board and card games. I bring my love of competition into the classroom in a friendly way. The children that I have spent time with enjoy challenging each other and themselves with knowledge that they have gathered in the classroom. I earned my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education in July 2023. I have worked in education since I was 16 years old, the goal was to always be a teacher. Teaching is a passion of mine, and I am excited to meet students
whose passion is learning something new. My philosophy is that students can
learn if their teachers are willing to do the same. Different learners exist and therefore, as an educator I will continue to grow and learn about how to best speak multiple learning languages. * Sight Word Bingo- Create a grid on a sheet of printer paper or print a blank template from a website and at the top write SIGHT, which will take the place of the traditional BINGO. Include the students sight words or spelling words and play bingo with them. 
* In Home Shopping- Using index cards write dollar amounts on household items and practice money skills using fake dollars and change. Have the student purchase items as well as sell. They will practice counting change for items they are selling and buying. *Tutoring; Ask your school about tutoring opportunities for your student who may need assistance with homework. 
Mentor; Search your local community center or religious group (i.e. church) for youth who can help your child emotionally by offering personal support. 
*Sports; Ask your child if they are interested in sports activities and locate a recreational group or club in your area. 
*After school care or activities; If your school offers after school care or clubs sign your child up for them if they need more social time with their school mates.
