Activities: Students can use craft materials to make their own art that is incorporated with a writing piece. Another activity could include coming up with a list of words that can be used in imagery and including it in a writing piece.

Activities: Students will come up with different emotions and will write a narrative where one character starts with one emotion but ends the story feeling a different emotion from the beginning. Students could also use demonstrate dynamic characters by coming up with a sequence of illustrations that shows a character changing.

Activities: Students can think about a small moment in their lives and form a narrative retelling that moment. Younger students could also retell their small moment through a descriptive illustration and speech bubbles.

Activities: Students will be tasked with drawing a picture that they believe could be a part of a book. Students will then trade drawings with each other and will have to write a short story about their peer's drawing. Students can switch several times to see how different everyone's stories were for the same drawing. Another activity could be having students write stories about book illustrations that the students have never read before and then comparing their stories with the real story.

Activities: Students can write a narrative about what cultural shock someone may have if they were to visit their house from another country. Students could also write a narrative when they felt cultural shock when in a different environment.

Activities: Students will receive paper that will be folded into a booklet. Using the booklet, they will tell a story using illustrations with a variety of art supplies. They can then share their story with the class and have the class interpret their story. Students could also work in groups to make a wordless picture book by taking turns drawing on each page.

Activities: Students can practice making there own haiku by following the format and can relate to nature like in the story. Students could also work in groups of 3 and have one student responsible for one line in another version of the activity.

Activity: Students will make their own collection of poems, but each one will have to have a unique rhyme scheme. Another activity could include having students write one poem that relates to something important to them to include an illustration with it.

Activities: Students could draw their own tree and write letters on their tree to form their own story. Students could also make their own story using the letters of the alphabet in a booklet through different illustrations and combinations of letters.

Activities: Students can choose a word they like and can draw how that word makes them feel. Students could then write out in a sentence how the word makes them feel as well. Another activity could be having students pick two words that are opposites and drawing each one so that they can compare the meanings.

Activity: Students will write a persuasive writing piece about why or why not they should have more recess time. Students would need to make sure they write about why their perspective is important. This activity could also be formatted as a letter for the state to read.

Activities: Students will practice writing their own letter towards to teacher about something they believe should change in the classroom. Students would need to provide details/evidence explaining their argument. Another activity students could do is to write a letter to their favorite fictional character about something they wish they should do differently in the media they are from.

Activities: Students will brainstorm good describing words that could be used in a story together with the class. Students will then have to use at least 3 words on the list and/or other describing words they think of in a narrative story. Another activity would be to have students observe photographs from nature and have students come up with describing words for the photos.

Activities: Students will modify the story to help the pigeon form a convincing argument as to why he should ride the bus. Students can use illustrations to support their work. Another activity could be to write a letter to the pigeon convincing him of why it would not be safe for him to drive the bus.

Activities: Students will be given statements that are written in the format of "if you give a mouse a cookie." Using these prompts, students will come up with their own effect of what they think would happen next based on their prompt. Students will have several prompts to help them form a short story.
