The Native Americans fought for both Great Britain and America. There were some Natives that were neutral between the two countries. The Native Americans were negatively impacted no matter which side they were fighting for. The Natives were left out of peace talks and were stolen of their land. The Americans retaliated against the Natives that supported the British. 

Civilization & Government 

-The government had taken on the role of "civilizing" the Natives. 
-The Natives didn't have any representation at the Treaty of Paris. 

Natives vs. Americans

The Natives went to battle due to the American settlers moving west. The Natives attacks were disastrous for the Americans. In 1789, the National Army of the United States had about 700 men. The Creek Indians had 3,500-6,000 warriors. This was disastrous for the Americans due to the significant difference.

Women were forced to come out of their shell and start doing tasks that men normally did such as tending to farms and businesses, cooks, sewing, tending to the wounded, and cleaning.

After the war women remained second-class citizens. They still lacked political rights, except briefly in New Jersey. Upper-class women such as Abagail Adams gently pushed for change by writing a list of grievances and thing's she wanted to be changed. 

There was a small percentage of women that went to battle and some of the women such as Deborah Sampson dressed up as a man so that she could have the right to go fight in the war. One woman named Mary Ludwig Hayes almost lost her husband in the war and during the fight, she took his ammunition and went to fight in his place. She loaded the cannon with gunpowder and she also went around and gave water to all of the soldiers.

20% of the white population in the colonies were loyalists. Small farmers, merchants, German immigrants, government officials all had mostly stayed loyal to the crown. 

Loyalists Views

The Loyalists wanted to "pursue peaceful forms of protest" and to avoid violence. The Loyalists did not want to gain independence in fear of losing economic benefits from the British mercantile system.

After Thomas Jefferson wrote the Virginia Statue for religiois freedom which was a new document that was set in place to separate church and state so one didn't affect the other.

 Protestantism was the dominating religion during the american revolution but after the american revolution there was more religions being taken into account.

Before the beginning of the Revolution, african americans lived only as slaves to their rich, white slave-owners. Working even in dangerous conditions, starving, and post-beaten, simply to please and do work the slave-owners didn't want to do. African Americans in this time period were seen as items, treated worse than animals.

Once the war began, these poorly treated African Americans were given an opportunity: to fight for their freedom. If an African American fought in the war, they would be given their freedom. This was a major opportunity and turning point in these peoples' lives. They could finally be free from the disgusting treatment and torment. While some were still sold back into slavery because the white men of the time simply couldn't help themselves. 

Post-war, these african americans were actually given freedom, they no longer had to work as slaves. Quite a few people actually thought slavery was very wrong and wanted to abolish it all together but there simply weren't enough people on board, but this was certainly a starting point, giving these african americans a chance at freedom, an opportunity to leave their slavery behind.]]> 2021-10-20 13:02:59 UTC https://padlet.com/lhaskin811/3c6w31lymslxvkl7/wish/1830252453 thazelwood951 https://padlet.com/lhaskin811/3c6w31lymslxvkl7/wish/1830961836 Before the Revolution began, poor white Americans had been thrown away, patronized, passed by without the blink of an eye. They were completely rejected by society. If you weren't rich, holding power and influence, you were nothing. 

However, after the Revolution, more and more people began to reject the idea of social hierarchy, and a fixed status, similar to those held by the crown. Until ultimately, the lower-class along with some middle-class leaders, was able to launch a full-scale attack on the wealthy americans.
