I have learnt empathy as some of them didn’t listen to me and ran off.I imagined how the teachers would feel as they taught the kids everyday (frustrated)and felt empathy for them. Some kids snatched the stickers i held out to them and it was hard getting them to give them back.they also chased me to the other end of the table when they saw the sticker file .one boy also spoke Chinese to me

I learnt that we should be kind to people with difficulties or the people who are different from us.

It was hard to get them to focus as they kept running around. They also kept throwing the ball everywhere once it was given to them

I learnt that we have to be patient with everyone and that everyone has different needs and wants so we have to cater to each person specially.

I think one challenge my group faced was that we did not have very good communication with each other and that resulted in us buying too many files. In the future, I think we can ask each other whether we have the items before we buy it.

1) I learnt to be more patient. During the collaboration, I learnt that different people learn at different paces, and we should teach them with patience instead of making them feel slow.

2) One challenge I faced was that the Chaoyang pupils had a shorter attention span, hence it was difficult to get them to focus with the task at hand.

2) One challenge I faced was getting the kids to understand my instructions. They were also quite fidgety so it was challenging trying to get their attention. There was also one kid who kept speaking Malay to me

I learnt to be more open minded and considerate to others as I was touched by the children’s sweet demeanour although they had special needs. I felt compassion towards them and I felt empathy towards them. I learnt to be kind to everyone around me. One of the challenges I faced was getting them to engage actively as some of them were really shy. I observed the CYS teacher and tried my best to make them feel comfortable

I learnt how to be patient with people who don’t process stuff as fast as I do. I learnt this while explaining our CY buddies stuff.

One challenge was getting our CY buddies to listen to me. They were a bit distracted and I had to explain everything slowly to them

I learnt about what issues the people like our buddies have and how we can help them. You can help by not frowning at them when they do something weird and play with them.

The buddies liked to kick the ball into the "goal" when there are none, Therefore, i decided to make a goal with excess cones.

1.I learnt to be appreciative and understanding towards others’ strengths and weaknesses, as we need to show compassion to different people instead of outcasting them.

2.One challenge I faced was communicating with the pupils as some of them could not talk or express themselves very well so it was harder to teach them to do the craft/game.

I have learnt that the kids aren’t completely handicapped or even handicapped but they just need more help than us to do certain things. However, some of them still threw the beanbags and other items around randomly and some of them stepped on the beanbags

I learnt that some people are not simply naughty but may have special conditions that cause them to behave badly, and we should help them and be patient around them.
Some CY pupils are more challenging to handle because they lose focus, lose interest, or may be in a bad mood.

I learnt that I needed to be more patient with them and not get irritated at them as they sometimes just do not understand our instructions. I should not have been snappy at one kid as he threw the beanbag on the ground.
They have shorter attention spans, so if you stop reminding them for say, 30 seconds, they might have forgotten your instructions.

1) I learnt to be more patient as the Chaoyang pupils sometimes did not understand what I was saying. I needed to simplify what I was saying in order for them to understand.

2) One challenge I faced was that my group did not have enough time to finish making the game. Some of my group mates had to sacrifice their recess time just to finish making the game.

I have learnt how to be patient and also to hang out with people with disabilities.
I have learnt that it is actually very hard to cope with the surroundings when you are disabled.
Personally, I think that the Teachers in Chaoyang are actually very patient and kind Teachers. When the Chaoyang kids were running around, the Teachers there did not even scold them or shout at them. Instead, they told the Chaoyang kids to settle down nicely and did not get annoyed even when the Chaoyang kids were tugging the teachers’ belongings.
I also think that the Chaoyang kids are very resilient, because despite having disabilities, the Chaoyang kids still come to school every day with happy faces and will try to hang out with different people.

I learnt that we need to appreciate who we are and where we come from, and we need to be patient, kind and caring, and should not scream or be angry at them. All of us have our own difficulties. We need to face them and figure out what is happening It was hard working with them, because some of them would not cooperate and would anyhow throw the ball in the air. It takes a lot of patience to work with them, and I learnt that the most important part was to encourage them.
