Such process can be a mind-map, notes, refections or just you thinking. Thanks to them we can predict when the next earthquake will occur, or how the currency value will change over-time. If we recognize the trends from the past we can find a lot of solutions for nowadays problems. One of them, which is quite well-known, is trial and error. It is like crossing out the untrue parts of something until you are left with one option.
Depending on the problem you should choose the correct way of solving. Below you can find a general procedure for any kind of problem.
1. Identify the problem:
a) what exactly is the problem (skip this step if you are not sure what the problem is - ill defined problem)
b) consider different perspectives
2. Activelistening
a) if the problem is about a group of people - listen to what they have to say and what they expect to get as a solution
b) usually, there is no perfect solution to fit all

c) Take notes of what people say (Take notes through the whole process!)
3. Brainstorm solutions
4. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of your solutions
5. Choose the best solutions based on your evaluation
a) can you mix parts of solutions to make one good one?
6. Applying the solution
a) try to use your solution
b) if something does not work, try a different solution from you ideas
