Step 2: The cat's face is taking up the entire photo and looking towards one side. There is an outline of the cat's facial features. There are white and black stripes, the eye outline is white, the whiskers are white and most of the rest of the photo is black. But you can tell the outline of the cat.
Step 3: The artist uses line as the element of design. Lines make up the cat and the outline of the cat. The whiskers, the eyes, the nose, the fur, the outline are made by white lines. The lines together create the cat.
The artist uses emphasis as the principle of design. The lines are emphasized, making the cat. Each line is white, making them stand out in a black photo. The lines turn from individual lines to connected lines creating a cat.
Step 4: The photo is almost like a memory of a cat that may have pasted. The cat could have been very special. Or the cat could be special. The black and white brings the cat out of the dark. The cat is starring off into the distance where it's future may lie, like everybody else. 
Step 5: I like this picture. There is not too much going on and the white and black go together. The simplicity of only one subject, the cat, in the photo. Having the cat be in only black and white adds to the simplicity. With not too much going on the viewer can focus on the cat. The cat isn't out of focus and is taking up much of the space.
