Before coming to America, I was excited at first, about getting on a plane for the first time, going to a continent where everything is different from speaking a new language, eating new meals, living with a new family, really because, to be honest, everything was like a dream for me. When I took the plane, my dream came true because the food was disgusting, but with time I got used to it and I realize that coming to America is the best year of my life!.😎😎🤩🎉🎉.

I remembered on the 22nd of august one Friday morning. Leaving my home, family, and loved ones to embark on a live changing journey. Me and my exchange friends when to our country’s capital (Abuja).where we had a two days orientation before heading to the airport. Our first flight was supposed to be by 10pm but it got delayed to 12am, so we had to wait. I was so nervous because it was my first time of traveling that far away from home and also traveling with an airplane. Me and my friends had gotten checked in, so we bothered the airplane and got sited. It’s was a 9 hours flight. We were served some terrible food on the plane. It was so bad.
Then we had our first stop in fragfort Germany. It was a really big and crowed airport. We had to wait for about 3 hours for the plane. We were so tired already. We had a proper meal there which was different from what we normally it at home but it was good food. So our flight finally arrived and we boarded the airplane to DC. We got to DC and loved bin a really beautiful hotel, where had a 2 days orientation.
So I got on a flight to Chicago, the I had a connecting flight to frotwaine Indiana. I was so nervous to meet my host parents and siblings, but I was also exacted. I meet them. they were waiting for me in the airport. We gave each others hugs and I was so happy to see the threat and wonderful people that let me into their lives. I love my new family so much.❤️💕🥰.

Well, it had started in July 30, approximately 22:00, when I said “Arrivederci” to my natural family and started my journey to reach the host family.

My flights itinerary looked like this:

Aktobe -> Almaty -> Frankfurt-on-Maine -> Washington DC -> Chicago -> Fort-Wayne

We were hanging out in Almaty hotel for a day, then went to the airport and took off in 1:00. It was great, because 7 out of 8 hours I had slept and could sleep even more, but my lovely and dear neighbor woke me up for sandwich and juice.

Then we hung out in German Airport a little bit, coordinator bought delicious meals and we flew away from Germany to Washington DC. Flight was 9 hours long and I couldn’t sleep. Also, I was not near to the window, which I can lean on like i did on the previous flight, but in the middle, between 2 cumbersome gentlemen, and one of them was jerk enough not to stand up sometimes when I wanted to visit the ladies’ room.

Finally, we landed and headed to the hotel, where we had mini-orientation and finally went to our rooms and ate Papa John’s!!!!!! Papa John’s cheese pizza is the best, behind the Monster’s chicken with ranch)

On the 3:00, after barely 3-4 hours of sleep, I headed to the final flights.

Flight to Chicago was 2 hours long and went really quickly for me (in comparison with my previous flights). Flight to Fort-Wayne was even shorter and I flew in such a small plane for the first time!

I was a little bit nervous to meet my host family in real life, but we arranged to eat in the Decatur’s cafe before my flight to Fort-Wayne via email, so I didn’t eat in the airport(profit). I got out of Fort-Wayne’s airport in 15:30, August 2.

Meeting was just amazing, I liked this experience and it was exciting to recall it even today, 2.5 months later.
