In this book, there is a town that once a year will abandon a baby in the woods for a witch. The towns people think the witch is real but the council knows thinks there is not one. In reality there is a witch in the woods and she saves the babies and takes them to a different town and gives them to a family that will take care of it. One particular year the witch feeds the child the moon and the child develops magic. The witch loves the child. When the child turns 13 years old her magic starts to be stronger but there are plot twists through the book.

This book is the 2017 Newbery book. It was fun and exciting to read. The book keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next and there is plenty of foreshadowing and vivid details that are portrayed through the authors writing.

After reading this book, I think that it was good children's book. It is definitely centered more towards younger children. I thought it was a very simple and cute book to read. This book was the 2016 Caldecott winner. The book is about five friends who are all waiting around for a specific thing. The owl was waiting for the moon, the pig was waiting for the rain, the dog was waiting for the snow, the bear was waiting for the wind, and the rabbit wasn't waiting for anything in particular. Then a surprising guest joins them. This would be a good book to read in a classroom when learning about weather or excising memory.

(Book Recommendation)

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction. This book is breathtaking and very exciting. There are twists and turns throughout the entire book. The author catches your attention and holds it throughout the entire book. This was one book that I could not put down once I started reading it. There are several different elements and characters that are involved in the story that contribute to the story as a whole. One thing that really excited me is that there are more books that tie into this one. "So they jazzed up the story with all of that "Huff and puff and blow your house down." And they made me the Big Bad Wolf. That's it. The real story. I was framed."

I found this quote to be the most significant quote in the entire book because it reveals and ties the entire plot twist. The wolf was innocent all along!...or so he says. The twist to the classic story had me thinking, "Who told the truth?" I guess we will never know.

One Crazy Summer is about a young girl and her two sisters who moves to California for a summer to get to know their mother. Upon arriving it becomes clear that Cecil, the mother, wants nothing to do with her daughters. All the Cecil is focused on is her career and her involvement with the black panthers. When Cecil gets arrested by the police, the girls have no money and no family so they move next door with their neighbor. A series of events soon follows. The girls finally start to stand up to Cecil becase they finally understand that she is a big bully.

Where the characters believable?
I think that the characters in The dreamer were believable because they are characters that most people can relate to, especially children. As children and adults we are always being told what to do by our parents or teachers. In The Dream, Neftali is constantly being told by his father that he cannot follow his dreams and become a writer. Most children can relate to that.

This is a book that I would definitely recommend for younger children. It is a graphic novel so it is different from a traditional layout of books. It keeps readers intrigued and its fun! The Book Anne Frank by Josephine Poole is a book that I would highly recommend to children who would like an insight into what it was like to be a Jewish child during the holocaust. Anne Frank was a young girl who kept a diary while she was in hiding during the holocaust. This is a book that young children will be able to relate to becuasae Anne Frank was young while the Holocaust was happening. Anne and her family hid in a secret annex that her father had planned. The overall quality of this book is well. It is well written and well-organized. The first chapter of the book is dedicated to what a scientist is the following five chapters are each dedicated to a different scientist. Every chapter goes into detail about each scientist life and their accomplishments. Every chapter includes pictures of the scientist. This book reminded me a lot of the holidays and what its like with my own family. We all get together and make tamales and its very fun to do. I really loved this book because it shows a lot of Hispanic culture.

This short children's books is a fun and blissful poem book about cows. Each page has an illustration and a poem that goes with it. There is a poem called "Milking," "
The cows complaint," and my favorite "Consider Cow." Each poem is different and fun to read. The book shows different styles of poems. I have attached a picture of Consider Cow illustration.

I enjoyed this mainly for the structure of the content. The book is written like a diary instead of a standard book. It makes the book easier to read and it feel s more personal so it is easier to relate and connect to. I feel that if children were to read this book it would be enjoyable to read for them. I have read other books in the "I survive" series. I like that the author Lauren Tarshis starts every book off by giving details of the main character  and the setting. The books give details and are historically correct. Lauren uses different sources to get her information and there are few illustrations to go with the book I have yet to encounter any other realistic fictions like this series and I am impressed with them because they are relatable. I feel that the Hurricane Katrina book was more relatable than other because it was in many children's lifetimes. I remember being in 5th grade and wondering what the big deal was over Hurricane Katrina. This book is a very short book with three chapters that talks about different potential sightings of UFOs from Roswell, New Mexico to Levelland, Texas. The first chapter goes into detail about the UFO sighting in Roswell and the events that unfolded after. There are pictures included that were taken during that time. The second chapter covers what UFOs are. The third chapter gives additional information about how these sightings can be explained. The book has great pictures included in it. There are little questions at the bottom of some of the pages that are kind of like trivia questions. The book has information of sighting of Bigfoot and how many people have tried to prove that he is real but none of the videos or pictures are clear enough to view bigfoot. There are different ways that people tried to fake foot casts or foot prints of Bigfoot. One man even tried to fake his body. The book has good illustration and the color scheme fits the mood of the book. All the colors that were used were brown, black and grays. The book discusses the Great American Dust Bowl in the 30's. This book is great for discussing historical parts of lessons, it can also be used to discuss some aspects of science (food chain). Each illustration goes well with the book and the content that it is discussing. The author talks about different ways that the dust effected people, livestock, and the country. Many people got sick and died. This books has great pictures of shark baby. This book follows the life of shark babies and how they develop. It follows the life cycle of different sharks. The books is very educational and would be a good cross curriculum book as well since it is one that can be integrated into science classes as well.
