It main principles are using less of everything , cut spendings on producing in order to meet the price that custumer will be happy to pay because known custumer is the person who sets the price for the product.
Sot Toyota was trying to minimize it's spendings so they started from reducing waste. Which is uneeded amount of workers , pointless skills ,useless inventory. By reducing waste toyota automaticallly reducewd price on its products. 
Respect to workers is another important point. By letting them a bit os space in terms of creativity Toyota hires their motivation and ability to reach their maximum output level. Which improves business production.
Toyota as well has to have a good quality in order to maintain their brand name else if massively lowering the quality raw materials which are bought to produce cars will decrease companies reputation as well as sales.
Another improvement is making the production line half automatic. Which means putting more robots instead of labour.
