Odysseus is a hero and the story shows it. For example "but Athena granted what I prayed for. Here are the means I thought would serve my turn: a club, or staff" (Homer line 264). Odysseus uses what athen gave him to save his crew he show intelligence. Or when he lies to protect his crew saying "My ship? Poseidon Lord who sets the earth a- tremble, broke it up upon the rocks." (Homer line 228). A Third example is with the cyclops when he approaches him and speaks "We are from Troy, Achaeans blown of course" (Homer line 204). He shows bravery standing up to speak to him despite of his men's fears.

A fourth example is when Antinous attacked him, "The stool he let fly hit the man's right shoulder.. he walked on facing the whole crowd". Odysseus shows determination even after a heavy blow he continues and speaks to the suitors. This evidence shows that Odysseus is a hero he's not perfect but no one is.
