Allen argues that civic education should aim to cultivate individuals who can engage in public discourse, understand different perspectives, and actively contribute to the well-being of their communities. This complements education well as the goals of civic education match the statement "education is a casual force behind democracy - reading, writing, and collaboration are the basic instruments of political action.

A technology based approach of equality focuses heavily on economic equality. The problem arises, that when further investigated, economic equality roots from political equality, something a civic based approach of equality focuses on. Technology based equality is heavily backed in todays world, given millions of dollars a year and it seems quite unfruitful when considering that students cannot even get a full understanding of equality in politics, the fountainhead of economic equality

In What is Education For? Allen elaborates on the lack of thought given towards a proper civic education, "Few among us pay adequate attention to the fact that almost all of our state constitutions guarantee a right to education. We pay even less attention to the fact that we have a right to civic education." (Allen 13)

In Allen's quote, she goes over the fact that many people don't give enough light for a need of civic education. The court case in 2006 regarding a push for a better civic education and being denied gives an inkling that maybe the government wants to deny a proper civic education. Danielle Allen goes over in an interview online how each $50 is allocated for each student in STEM, which $0.50 is allocated for civic education. Perhaps the government doesn't want the students to get a proper civic education, and it seems to be working.
