Ben&Ben Favorite Songs

I have never been that interested in Filipino bands until Ben&Ben. My two favorite songs from the band that made me instantly hooked into their music is 'Pagtingin' and 'Kasayaw'.

Pagtingin talks about unsaid feelings and the chances of telling the truth of what they truly feel about a certain person they fancy.

Kasayaw speaks of a person who wishes to have a commitment with someone but it felt like mixed signals as if they were only dancing a game with their significant other's shadow.

What caught my attention with these songs is the vocals, the violin that can be heard touching up every bit of the song and the upbeat rhythm.

Look Into: Used and Gratifications Theory

Philippine Music, such as OPM is widely known and consumed as a kind of entertainment by not only Filipinos but international audience as well. Uses and Gratifications Theory match up as a good theory to explain why Ben&Ben became a good and well-known pop band in this current generation. Defining Uses and Gratifications Theory, it is a theory that explains or describes why people seek media to satiate specific needs. The Philippines have a majority of love songs and a lot of artists make songs about love. So what makes them stand out?

Most of the Filipino people that listen to their songs go from an age range of teenagers to adults. Their songs not only speak about one's feelings, emotions or current standing in life but they have an excellent way with playing with their words. For example, the lyrics in their song "Nag-iisa lang ba 'ko, Tanging kasayaw ang aking anino" doesn't necessarily and literally mean that the person is dancing with their shadow. It means that they feel alone in that relationship as if it were but a one-sided love. Additionally, the singers' voices do not hurt the ears due to their calming and soothing voice.

The listeners love listening to them as part of an entertainment. Their music is relatable, creative, relaxing and allows people who listen to the same artist be able to socialize.
