DJ Bou is a drum and bass artist from Manchester, UK and is a rising artist in the music industry, Bou is very well known for his unique sound blends and heavy bass lines and provides very catchy melodies with high energy beats (Jenkins, D 2023, july 3). i am influenced by bou because i admire the unique sounds he has made and how he uses such simple beats to energise thousands of people in a crowd.

HEDEX - (Jack Hedges)

DJ Hedex is a drum and bass artist from Cambridge, UK. He is one of the biggest and most successful Jump Up artists to emerge since the mid 2010's. He was very prominent in the Belgian stripped back sound, with most people thinking he was Bruges born and bred (Jenkins, D 2019, May 9). Hedex influences me because he started djing very young (13) he worked very hard promoting himself to where he is now and that inspires me to network with other people, expand my knowledge in the industry and to not be afraid of the music i want to create.

CHASE & STATUS - Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status).

Chase & Status are a english duo who started creating music in 2003. They both met each other at university in Manchester and haven't looked back since. these two have created their own drum and bass sound and if you listen to their songs you can hear the simplicity but energetic sounds that these two produce (Chase, Status, n.d). i have chosen this influence for Bou because both artists have a very 'less is more' aspect in their songs and that has influenced me in what i want to create.

Dj Guv is a producer/ DJ beginning his career in the early 2000's, Guv's drive has set himself apart in the drum and bass industry by winning producer of the year in 2018 and in 2016 he won song of the year with his track 'Warning'(Giles, H. 2019 june 15). Hedex mentions in an interview that Guv has been very influential to his career as a mentor, not only as a producer but as an artist aswell.

Drum and bass started in the mid 1990's and has progressed rapidly over the past years. It was first called Jungle then changed to drum and bass. Drum and bass has become the backbone of electronic dance music because of its ability to push production levels to the absolute limit (rihn, j, 2021 july 1). Bou only produces drum and bass and has mastered creating songs. Artists have the ability to create any sound or beat from a DAW and I look upto any drum and bass artist who has created music because it has inspired me to learn new skills and progress in ways I never thought I could.

Serum

Serum is the co owner of Souped Up Records. Serum's career started when he was scouted by Ray Keith, and signed to his record label "Dread Imprint" (Advisor, R. N.D). Serum who was also born in England started young and once his journey with Dread finished, his production levels increased dramatically and was releasing very high quality songs in a short period of time. Serum signed Bou onto Souped Up Records and Bou soon released his song "Veteran" featuring Trigga. i have chosen this artist as Bou's influence because Serum was one of the originals to become big in drum and bass music and believed in Bou's ability to create his own style.

Jump Up Drum And Bass

Jump Up Drum and Bass is a sub genre for Drum and Bass. its known for its infectious energy and pulsating beats and deep grooving bass lines. it is also less serious and contains more humour than any other drum and bass genre (JumpUpAndRoll.com. 2024 February 16). Hedex is known for his punchy bass lines and building a crowd up in his dj sets for the drop.

Phil, Hedex's friend

Hedex was influenced by his friend Phil early on when he was young. Hedex and Phil met when they were in school, Hedex says in an interview that Phil introduced him to drum and bass and showed him fruity loops 'FL Studios' and that was his preferred DAW at the time (Basement, T 2016 july 23).
