         <description><![CDATA[<div>The number of variations on the recipe for Irish soda bread will likely match the number of families in Ireland. Starting off with the base recipe, added twists and ingredients have resulted in an endless variety of breads that vary from family to family and even between generations.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>And, even though it’s bread, there’s no yeast in the recipe, and most recipes will traditionally call for golden raisins and dried cranberries.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Investigation of Iconic people Irland</div><div><br></div><div>The Emerald Isle has produced many famous Irish people who have all made their mark on the world in one way or another. From famous actors to presidents and political leaders to sports stars, there is no shortage of famous Irish people who have come to be recognized for their efforts and the impact that they have made.</div><div><br></div><div>&nbsp;◦ Physicist John Tyndall (1820 – 1893), the man who gave the first scientific explanation for why the sky is blue and discovered the greenhouse warming effect of gases, was born in County Carlow. John Tyndall conducted experiments that are still relevant to our understanding of the physical and chemical worlds as far back as 150 years ago.<br><br></div><div><strong>&nbsp;◦ Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wils Wilde was born on 16th October 1854, in Dublin to a well-to-do family. He read Greats at Trinity College Dublin in the 19th century. Oscar Wilde went on to become a literary great and rose to fame as a London author and playwright and wrote many celebrated works such as The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest.<br></strong><br></div><div>&nbsp;◦ Katie Taylor is without a doubt the most famous female boxer in the world and probably the best female boxer in the world at the moment too. Katie was born in Bray, Wicklow, on 2nd July 1986 and began boxing from the age of 11. Katie went on to win gold in the Olympics before entering the realm of professional boxing, which she is now taking by storm.<br><br></div><div>&nbsp;◦ Bram Stoker (1847-1912): Abraham, or Bram, Stoker is most famous for writing the Gothic horror novel Dracula. Born in Dublin, Stoker was too sick to leave his house until the age of seven. During this time, he was told lots of Celtic stories, including tales of malevolent fairies who sometimes drank blood!<br><br></div><div><strong>&nbsp;◦ Charles Parsons was the son of the peer of Offaly, the Earl of Rosse, a famous astronomer and builder of the "Leviathan", which was at that time, the largest telescope in the world. It can still be visited at their family home at Birr Castle. Charles invented the steam turbine. It was highly efficient and could be harnessed directly to generate electricity. As a result of his invention, widespread and cheap electricity became possible and ushered in the modern electric world.<br><br><br>5. Ernest Walton<br></strong><br></div><div>Ernest Walton is the only Nobel Prize winner in physics to hail from Ireland. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1951 along with his colleague John Cockcroft as they were the first scientists to artificially split the atom in 1932.<br><br></div><div>Working at the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University, the two scientists had built an apparatus that split the nuclei of lithium atoms by bombarding them with a stream of protons accelerated inside a high-voltage tube. Their work paved the way for modern physics advancements, such as what is being carried out in the Large Hadron Collider at CERN today.<br><br></div><div>Walton was born in Waterford in 1903 and, in 1934, he returned to Ireland from Cambridge to take up a post in the Department of Physics at Trinity College Dublin. He was a science advocate who petitioned the Government of the day about the importance of science in the development of the nation. He died in 1995 at the age of 91.<br><br></div><div><strong>&nbsp;◦ Mary Robinson was born in Ballina, County Mayo, on 21st May 1944. She became famous for being the 7th president of Ireland and the first-ever female president of Ireland. Mary, who studied law at Trinity College Dublin, has been praised for her time in the presidential office. She is credited with positively contributing to the transformation of Ireland into a modern country.<br></strong><br></div><div>&nbsp;◦ Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell – Astrophysicist&nbsp; (1943 – present) As an astrophysicist, Jocelyn Bell Burnell made history when she discovered the first radio pulsars. In the wake of the finding, numerous more scientific advances were made, including the production of a map to direct extraterrestrials to Earth.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
