One example would be whenever he was tricking her with making the cake. The text states,"Arvid was quite dejected over the thought until he was struck by a brilliant idea. After his work in the field was done, he went home to supper. As he and Uula ate their meal, Arvid casually said, “The harvest holidays are here, my wife, but don’t go making any sweetcakes this year. We are too poor for such a treat.”

This shows that she will dissagree with everything that the husband says and he uses that to his advantage by telling her the things that they shouldn't do so that he can do it. Another example would be when he was tricking her with the people. The text states," At least let’s not invite anyone over. We can’t possibly afford to have guests, too.”
“Ha!” Uula exclaimed. “What shall we do with all the food if there is no one here but us to eat it? Tomorrow, invite all of our friends and neighbors to our harvest feast, and waste no time about it!”

The husband also tricked her into letting all the guests being able to come over to sing and dance at the party. in the short story it says, “We will have pig, and do not argue about it!” Uula responded, her eyes blazing. Arvid rubbed his temples as if he were developing a headache. “This is too much, Uula, too much! At least let’s not invite anyone over. We can’t possibly afford to have guests, too.” “Ha!” Uula exclaimed. “What shall we do with all the food if there is no one here but us to eat it? Tomorrow, invite all of our friends and neighbors to our harvest feast, and waste no time about it!” It shows that she did the exact opposite of what the husband said to do, or suggested to do, so that's how the part was made based on the wife's/Uula's personality formed the party.
