I chose this photo of my siblings and I because they are my biggest motivators. They are my rocks that I know I can always confide in and rely on to be transparent with me. It’s my mom, me, and my first younger brother, in our home in Punjab. It reminds me of all the memories I have before I moved to LA. The earring, jhumka’s represent my culture and the type of bedazzle I like in my life. The teddy bear was given to me by my lover and it was such a simple but big gesture. It reminded me that love is looking for me and I am loved, always loved. It’s also just very cute. The Lindt truffles remind me of my childhood and my dad, when we would spend time together. Specifically reminds me of Costco runs with my dad, and we would get the assortment pack and it made me the happiest little girl ever. All of these things mean so much to me. The plant represents peace and reminds me of my motherland, Punjab, where there is so much greenery and fields, beautiful and never ending. The sheet is one I got when I went shopping downtown with my mom and favorite aunt. Those days in Santee Alley have a special place in my heart, reminding me of the fruit man and the bustling city. Starting off with the FTG Frame, this frame is a reminder that I am first gen and I will always and forever be first gen. Looking at this frame reminds me that I MADE IT. The Jesus peace symbolize my glory to God. Without God I don’t know where I’d be in life. He is my everything. Moving onto the last two things, the note from my father reminds me of my family and all of their love for me and the glitter jar is the very first thing I made when I got to college.

This collage highlights the significance of my family and my identity. The ladybug is a symbol for my middle name, Katarina. The palm tree is a symbol of where I'm from, my mom's hometown, small beach town in Mexico. The 1st object I chose is a rosary representing the rosary my grandpa gave me before he passed away, and it represents the huge impact he had on me and how he's led me to where I am today. The second is a music note, which represents the fact that dance is one of my escapes and how music has been a source of healing for me personally. I was going through my google photos and I found these gems. So the middle picture is me and my little sisters going "Sheeee". It really just captures our playful dynamic. The picture in the lower left shows a concha with ice cream. I mean, apart from the fact that it was very bomb, it was a mixture of my Mexican heritage with something that would represent a sweet that would have been a commodity in Mexico. My parents would have never been able to afford something like this if they stayed in Mexico, but they could here. The lower right represents a boba in Mexico. It actually says "sexy butt". Its pretty funny.
