Information literacy is important because it develops critical thinking skills in students. The examples laid out in the video clearly show how the lack of research and accountability deeply impacted families and communities. Information literacy impacts me as an educator because in the next decades and generation, social media, the internet, and media will influence their decisions and entertainment. So, by developing students critical thinking skills, they will be ahead of the crow when it comes to research or overcoming real world problems.
