<title>The picture bellow shows a typical trial for the witch hunts. Spiritual evidence was allowed in these trials. This meant that only the person accusing the supposed witch could see an aura attacking them. Often people would start screaming as the witch entered the room and would mimic and contort them selves to act as if the witch was casting spells on them. This was considered evidence which is absolutely ludicrous by modern standards and shows how crazy the trials were.</title>

<title>When you were convicted of being a witch you had 2 choices. One you could deny being a witch and killed by your peers. A second option was to lie and confess to being a witch ( a sign of saying your sorry for being a witch) and be spared but sent to hell. This created a conumdrum for the highly religous puritians. The picture bellow shows the outcome of option 1, being burned at the stake.</title>

<title>The purtians like their name were &quot;pure&quot;. They thought europe&#39;s religon was to complicated and unlike what god intended. They sought to fix this with their own society&#39;s . Their churches were bare and the clothes they wore were plain and often black and white. The picture bellow illustrates this with the puritans wearing simple clothes and hats in black or brown.</title>

<title>The purtians believed in a different system of religon than England. This caused the crown to resent them and they fled to the new world for a fresh start. The puritans were acually the piligrims. They set up various villages in the east coast and had hard lives. One of the villages was saleem infamous for the witch trials. The image bellow shows them leaving the ship that they sailed to America.</title>

<title>The puritians believed that the church and state should be combined. They said the only king we will ever need is Jesus Christ. They thought this would create a utopian society. The image bellow illustrates that point, the puritians thought their society would be so pure that it would be seen around the world as a beacon of hope. Thus the phrase &quot;city on a hill&quot; like the puritans were above all else.</title>
