An effective collaborative learning can be considered the leading process to be activated in the class in order to achieve the individual development of competences for life.

Collaboration rubric: 1 LOW LEVEL OF COLLABORATION: making a poster about jobs and professions (activity to acquire vocabulary). The pupils provided a series of pictures from magazines, ads, newspapers, on the topic "jobs and professions". In class, we prepared a poster with the pictures. In groups, the pupils choose the most significant pictures, pasted them on the poster and realized the titles.

Collaboration rubric: 5 HIGH LEVEL OF COLLABORATION: creating a memory game. Arranged in groups of six, the pupils choose a topic, decided the roles in the group and organized their work; choose the drawings for the memory cards. Finally, they had to write down the rules of the game in English. 
In a large group discussion, we decided whether use common rules for the game or let each group to use the rues they provided.
The product was a series of 4 different memory games on different topics.
This activity required a high level of collaboration because pupils weren't used to this kid of work; they were required to use mainly English during the work; at the end of the activity they had to negotiate the rules.
