The first intolerable act passed was called the Boston Port Bill. This closed Boston Harbor until a repayment was made for all the destroyed tea. The only imports allowed were supplies for the British Army and necessary goods, such as fuel and wheat. The second act replaced the elective local council with one that was chosen by the king. Additionally, the council couldn’t meet whenever they wanted to. To meet at all, they needed permission from the local governor. The third act was known as the Administration of Justice Act. This act enforced previous laws, but if any colonists committed a crime, no matter how big or small, their trial would be held in England. This led to many unfair convictions and jail sentences. The last act passed was called the Quartering Act. This act forced colonists to provide housing and food for British soldiers whenever necessary.

This tactic would hopefully bring the company out of some of their debt. The colonists instantly resented the Tea Act and decided to latch out. Many colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. These chests belonged to the British East India Company and had an estimated value of over £18,000. This event is known as the Boston Tea Party

The 14 articles directed the surrender from the disposition of the troops, artillery, and arms to even the surrender ceremony itself. The articles also included where the troops, now prisoners of war, were to be sent. For example, article 1 states, "The garrisons of York and Gloucester, including the officers and seamen of his Britannic Majesty's ships, as well as other mariners, to surrender themselves prisoners to the United States, the navy to the naval army of his Most Christian Majesty." This article explained what would happen to any additional British soldiers. They would have to turn themselves into the American colonists and wait to be released.
