Spanish Renaissance artists were also concerned with light, colour and perspective, and they focus in religious themes. Valencia was the centre of artistic activity, and had strong Italian influences.
Domenikos Theotokópoulos (1541-1614), known as El Greco, was the genious of Spanish Renaissance painting. He travelled to Italy to learn from the Renaissance masters. He settled in Toledo in 1577 and produced very original masterpices. His work is know for its vivid pigmention, with reddish and bluish tones, and contrast of light. He produces complex compesitions, with elongated figures that give the idea of the spirituality.
