Japan's commute is majorly longer than most and normally takes about a hour and a half. Do to the little space and many people Japan created underground tunnels and subway systems. On the tubes there are workers wearing white gloves called pushers that actually push as many people into the cars as they can. The Japanese also made Bullet Trains which are the fastest trains on earth, they are in the shape of a bullet and can go up to 180 miles per hour. Many people still own cars, but have trouble parking them. Tokyo has made high-rise garages that use elevators to stack cars in large cubbies.

Housing in Japan in very compact and small. Most houses are smaller than your living room. The Japanese have found ways to use the tiny spaces, they sleep on futons during the night and switch them out with chairs and a table from the closet during the day. They also use miniature appliances and grow Bonsai tree ( which only grow a few inches tall). The cemeteries are overflowing and most bodies have to be cremated to save space.

The usable land in Japan is scarce. The Japanese build taller building to make up for the space on the ground, but they are limited by the risk of earthquakes in the area. They have been building so many skyscrapers that some locals have started calling the construction crane the "National Bird". The Japanese also built underground. Mostly shopping malls, parks, museums, a Buddhist temple and crazy enough, a zoo.Japan has taken to filling shallow wetlands with dirt and rubble to create more room. Farmer are cutting terraces into hillside to make space to grow rice.

Although the Japanese normally live long lives Japan has serious pollution problems. Smoke cause breathing problems and sewage poisons rivers. Yet Japan is probably the cleanest country out there. The streets are swept everyday, but it is victim to Acid rain. It harms the food supply and the people who eat it. The Toxic waste consumed by the Japanese woman gave their children terrible birth defects. Even with all of these pollution problems the life expectancy is about 82. Some people wear face masks in the street when they are sick and the government has strict laws to clean the water and air. To reduce garbage pile up, Japanese have turned to recycling
