Being a big dreamer does not mean that you always walk around with your head in the sky. It means that you are searching for a purpose for your life and are striving to change and better yourself. People who dream big are more likely to accomplish their goals because they have the motivation to do so. The video below shows what it means to dream big through the eyes of several young girls, and how they are able to achieve their goals by drawing inspiration from Disney princesses. Think about a time when you had a big dream. Did your dream come true? If not, why do you think some people struggle with dreaming big?

I dream big with everything in sports that I do. One of my biggest dreams was this to go to the state finals. For all of my years in high school, we have made it to the state tournament, but we haven't made it past the quarterfinal round. This year, however, I thought we had a real chance. We lost in the district finals, but that just increased the determination in all of us. We swept through the quarterfinals with a 5-0 victory, but unfortunately, we lost in the semifinals 1-0. I think someone fail to dream big because they're scared of what will happen if they lose. But, my advice to them would be do your best. We didn't make it to my goal, but the team still made school history for the third year in a row.

I think that some people struggle with dreaming big because they are afraid to fail. I know that is usually how I am. I am too afraid that if I set my goals too high I will not reach them and I will be disappointed. But, if you set your goals higher, you will have more of a chance to improve. You may not reach your goal, but you will be so much closer. I know that if I do not reach my goal I will work harder and harder until I accomplish it. For example, in swimming all I wanted to do was get a 1:08.70 100 breast time and/or make it to states. This year I did neither, but I became closer to reaching that goal and I know next year I will be able to accomplish it.

One dream I've had since I was a little girl was to go on a missions trip outside of the country. I've always had a passion for helping people in need, especially children, and a strong interest in other cultures. Last summer, my dream came true and I got to travel to Honduras for eight days with my church. It was a last minute decision to apply for the team and required a lot of trust because I didn't know where the finances would come from to fund a pretty expensive trip. However, I worked hard throughout the months leading up to fundraise, share the cause with others, get donations, and prepare myself emotionally to be in such a drastically different setting than what I know. The trip was probably the highlight of my entire life so far, and I learned so much about myself and life in general. So I'd say my dream definitely came true.

I have a dream to win districts for diving my senior year. I knew that that was not going to happen this year because there is a very talented diver from Trinity who beat me. However, I have been working harder each day so that I can accomplish that dream next year. Thus far, my dreams have been made up of little goals- getting new dives, trying new techniques, and cleaning up my form. I think some people struggle with dreaming big because they fail to see the big picture, and the steps that make up the big picture.

Since I was little I have always had a dream about being able to help people like others have helped me through out my life. Because of this dream, I want to become a teacher. My dream has not come true yet, but that is because I am still in high school. When I graduate I want to go to a good college for teaching so I can help others reach their full potential. Some people tend to struggle with dreaming big because they have so many things to do in their life. They can not just pick one thing to do. Another reason people could struggle with dreaming big is because they have been let down in their life and do not know what it is like to achieve a goal.

I think that many people, including myself, have trouble with dreaming big and believing that they can achieve great things because they have little faith in themselves and others show little support for them. With enough strength and courage I think that anyone can do anything they want. If someone wants to be a doctor badly enough, they will go to school for however long enough to get their degree and work long hard hours. If someone wants to be a professional dancer, they will practice for hours every day to perfect one measure of a song. I think it is up to us, the people and society around these dreamers to support these hopes and show a little faith that anything can be achieved.

A dream I have had for a while has been to run a half marathon, or eventually a marathon, at some point in my life. This, December, I got anemia and had to stop training for my half in May. This caused me to struggle a lot with pushing through and continuing to actively pursue this dream, even without being able to run. Now, it is progressively and gradually getting better, and I am starting to run longer distances again. Other problems like shin splints and a torn IT band are still coming up, but I am determined to push through them. Obstacles like these are what make people intimidated or hesitant to pursue their dreams, and it is important to continue working hard and keep a positive mindset.

I think that I definitely dreamed more when I was younger then I do now. It can be hard to believe in yourself to accomplish something big that looks impossible. Because of this, I think many people struggle to dream big. People can become intimidated by what the future holds and begin to limit themselves out of fear of the unknown. However, when I was little, I really wanted to be a pediatric nurse. Since then, I have still kept this dream and it is something that I strive to work on for the future.

Thanks for sharing the video with us today, Hannah! Most recently a dream that I have been able to accomplish was to complete a 50K trail race. At first I thought this was just a far-fetched idea, but once I committed to do it, my attitude changed, which is a significant factor in achieving any dream. I am extremely proud of how hard I worked and trained in order to accomplish my goal, which in turn has made me believe in "big" dreams.

For awhile now I've wanted to be a teacher when I get older. I think that it's a really important job, but I've often been told that I shouldn't pursue it because of the pay and under appreciation it receives. I've been struggling with what I want to do for awhile now because of this, and I think that it makes it difficult to believe that I can do whatever I want and I can accomplish my dreams because people tell me not to. It's hard to go against what everyone is telling you, which makes it hard when you have a dream to accomplish it because everyone is telling you that you can't or shouldn't. It's maken my choices fro the future much harder because even though I have a dream many people are telling me that it's going to be hard to reach.

I, along with the rest of my family, dreamed that my father would get the treatment he needed and become cancer free. We knew that the treatment was a lot of money (about $400,000), but we pushed and pushed to raise the money and eventually, my father was able to receive the treatment. My whole family worked together to spread the word around, emailing small companies, family, and friends, in order to raise enough money so my father could fight cancer for the last time. It was really inspiring to see everyone in my family come together to all achieve the same dream and goal. Now, my father is cancer free, but I still work for my dream every day of finding a cure for cancer. Each day, I do something involved with Mini-THON because one day, there will be a cure. Although this dream has not come true yet, I, and many others, will continue to fight until a cure is found.
