I talked about this briefly in the DM 101 post. here is the link to a forum which multiple people argue their point of view. A big thing with homebrew you can definitely improvise more. Whereas with running a module, there are loose guidelines you cant stray from.

Starting out in DND

This website reviews the starter set for DND. This is what most people buy starting out. When I started I had none of this. I had a Laptop with dnd beyond and I had google for my dice rolls. This review is pretty solid and I agree this is a great set for someone starting out but its not necessary to have all the bells and whistles.

This data was posted July of this year. Seeing how in the 90s sales dropped and DND wasn't mainstream for almost 2 decades. When it started emerging A video game named Baldur's Gate 3 made sales skyrocket and now there are more people interested in DND more than ever before!

This is DMsGuild. I use this because there are free pre-built modules that you can alter however you please for one shots. There are some you have to pay for but there are a decent amount that are free. This is an amazing resource to use especially is you're in a pinch for time!

DnD Essentials

With the emergence of DnD on campus, some of these resources you can have access to for free. At the Virtual Collaboration Center on the Statesboro campus, they have the DND starter set and they have dice there you can check out. At the library they have a 3d printer but you can use their flash drive to download an stl file off the internet to have your own mini figurine for free.
