Although we did not get a high score, we enjoyed making the shield and burning it. The experiment was very eggsiting and we had a lot of fun working together. Our shield was burnt through a bit but protected the egg from the heat.

However,it turned out that the spackle was extremely strong this is because,the heat only got through the spackle. It was very unexpected that we lost in the year group,as ours got a BONUS point since our shield was thinner than a pencil.Our group learnt from this session that two pieces of tape can make you loose a competition and that spackle was the strongest material from the heat out of the limited materials.

Also we enjoyed the chance to have freedom while creating our shield, we liked our shield because it was quite strong and only burnt at the last moments. We enjoyed everything we did on science day, we hope we experience a similar activity again.

We managed to make a strong shield using just, cork, a large steel mesh and spackle. We chose these because we knew that the materials would resist heat for a long time, most of them are made to resist heat.
