A GOOD TEACHER

The most important quality of a teacher is to be extremely passionate and motivated to teach. There is nothing better than a teacher that loves their job and genuinely wants to be there every day. High energy, kid- friendly teachers with alacrity are usually more approachable to young audiences and kids are more likely to want to learn from them.

Another important quality of a teacher is patience. Teachers absolutely need patience, especially when dealing with young kids. Patience is a good quality to have not just in teaching, but when dealing with people in the workforce and the real world.

A good teacher is caring and nice. No one likes mean people and having a mean teacher just means you're bound to have a bad year. This should just be an overall rule of life: BE NICE TO PEOPLE!

Being a teacher is a dream profession to many. From playing school and having your stuffed animals be your students as a kid, to taking your first class at college in hopes of getting your teaching degree, teaching is an important skill in life and makes for a good job. But do these budding teacher’s realize the starting salary of a teacher and all the factors that can increase your salary?

A starting teacher’s salary with a bachelor’s degree in 2018-2019 is $46,262. A teacher’s salary with a bachelor’s degree after twelve years is $70,389. This is a very big difference in salaries. The more years you work as a teacher has a direct effect on your salary.

Some ways to increase a teacher’s salary is to coach, substitute, tutor, run a club, and proctor the SAT’s.

My thoughts about teacher salaries is that they don't get paid very much. It makes me glad that they decided to stand up for themselves because it lead to an increase in their salaries. Teachers help us become the people we want to be in the future. Teachers deserve so much more credit. The starting teacher's salary is about $53,000 a year. Ways to increase a teacher's salary is substituting, tutoring, running sports or clubs, and proctoring the SATs. Knowing a teachers salary helps me understand what I should expect in the future. Having kids, paying rent, and debts are not cheap.

RON CLARK QUESTIONS

What discipline strategies did Ron use? As a teacher, do you feel you could use these same strategies? Explain.

He is very aggressive in his discipline style. In one scene in the movie he screams at a girl and slams her desk several times. His strategies don’t seem to work at the beginning but throughout the movie they start to become effective as he makes some changes. I don’t think I could use the same strategies because i’m too nice.

Why do you think Ron Clark has been so successful?

He puts an emphasis on being a “family” in class. After many trials and errors he understands what makes the kids happy and sticks with those strategies. He cares about the kids’ learning and makes them want to care about their learning too.

Put yourself into the story. How would you react walking into this job?

I would be extremely overwhelmed but I would persevere like Ron Clark because some of the ugliest things can have the most beautiful outcomes and I think thats where the movie is heading.

What was one of your favorite scenes in the movie? Explain.

My favorite scene was when the kids found out their test scores were higher than the other classes. They were so happy.

What makes THE RON CLARK STORY a movie that families can sit down and watch together?

Not only does it teach that kids should listen to their elders, but it teaches parenting strategies that parents can use for their kids. The movie has a strong message and is actually very entertaining to watch.
