Hence the complaints made by teachers that the contents of the courses do not respond to their real needs, that they do not seem relevant, that they are not interesting and, above all, not helpful. There is a gap between theory (done by others, non-teachers) and practice (the work of the teacher). Action research is able to bridge this gap because theory comes from practice and not vice versa. 
The gap between theory and practice is bridged mainly because in action research the teacher takes on the role of researcher. The need to reflect on the underlying motivations for his or her actions and the need to critically evaluate them obliges the teacher to consider the theoretical dimension of practice and to explicit justifications for his/her actions.

Larger-scale research projects however are invaluable. Policy-makers usually pass down directives that do not take school reality into consideration. ·         In my class I have students who are very advanced in learning English as a foreign language, as well as those who are beginners and are not very motivated to learn because it is difficult for them.
 It is a challenge for me to provide differentiated learning according to the level of achievement in the same class so that it is interesting and useful for both groups of students.
 I wonder how to use students' energy and activity to help each other progress, and how to make greater use of ICT in learning. 
 It is a challenge for me to organize English language training so that it adapts to the different learning styles of my students. I notice that some of them learn more easily when they listen to fun, interesting information in the language. For others, learning is more effective if they write more or observe what I write on the board or on the screen. The third group of students feel better when I give them practical tasks - to describe something, to work on a project. The purpose of the training is to meet a certain standard - e.g. to master a rule in grammar, to learn a certain number of new words, etc.
 I wonder how to ensure the achievement of these specific goals by setting various tasks in accordance with the different learning styles of students. 
I would be happy to find a variety of e-resources that are differentiated according to the student's preferred way of learning. 
 I try to encourage students to work together and I often use project work. When students discuss topics and questions about the project, they are usually active and have a lot of suggestions, but when it requires them to work with teammates who have not worked with so far (two or three people), they do not like it. all. There are students who are not preferred as partners or find it difficult to work in a team.
