D-Day was the day that the USA decided to attack German-occupied France through it's beach in Normandy. The purpose of this attack was to slowly regain control of Europe. With this happening on the West side of Europe and the Soviet Union invading from the East, Germany didn't last that long. What I found surprising was that 12,000 American Forces were injured, 4,000 dead, and only 1,000 German soldiers died as a casualty of D-Day.

A minute after midnight on June 4, 1944, 24,000 paratroopers flew down on the beaches of Normandy, France with thousands more storming the beach from the sea. Many were shot out of the sky as the troops on the ground were held back by barbed wire, metal tripods, and German troops at the peak of the hill armed with machine guns. The battle was a great victory for the Allied Powers and with the help of the Soviet Union at the rear, they were able to take down Nazi Germany.

D-Day was a day that can be considered as a invasion/operation. It was led by the Allied Powers. The soldiers went through Normandy, France to accomplish their goal . The goal was to bring down Nazi Germany and make them surrender. Even though they didn't win entirely they had some victories which still saved lives. Overall this makes me proud for the Allied victories yet upset because so many lives were sacrificed.

It had many casualties and it was the largest sea invasion that took place in military history ever. The Allied Powers made their way through Normandy, France to complete their mission, which was to make the Germans or Nazis surrender. They weren't as successful as they planned to be on the first day, but as a week went on, they were more successful. It was a victorious invasion or operation but it was also very tragic because so many people were hurt and a great number of people died or lives were lost.
