However, as Proteins take longer to process they act as a longer-lasting source of energy<br><br>-One of the ways proteins can provide energy is by helping to repair and build muscle tissues<br><br>-In reality, there is actually 5.2kcal per gram of protein, however about 1.25kcal per gram is lost as a nitrogenous substance in urine, thus its real energy value is closer to 4kcal per gram<br><br>-The key functions of protein are;</div><ol><li>Building and repairing of the body</li><li>Transporting oxygen and nutrients.&nbsp;</li><li>Fighting infection.&nbsp;</li><li>Regulating hormones (some).&nbsp;</li></ol><div><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
