Mid-way through 1776, the mood in the colonies had shifted towards the fight for independence. There were several states that made it clear that supported the idea.

Britain created a policy of limiting westward expansion in the colonies which didn't make the colonies happy. The more the colonies rebelled, the more oppressive acts Britain used against them which led to the colonies ultimately uniting. Due to the the two against each other, the colonies began to tax English exports which led to boycotting them. Britain knew that it would have to go to war with the colonies eventually.

The colonies were the definite "underdog" in the war against England. Some of the advantages America had were they were fighting on home soil, the rise of nationalism, and the belief in a free America.

England had many advantages such as a huge navy, strong military, and more resources.

On April 19, 1775, the British regulars encountered a group of American militiamen at Lexington, and the first shots of the American Revolution were fired.

The war against mothering Britain began in 1775. On July 4th, 1776, during the war, the colonies declared themselves independent from Britain. By 1783, the colonies had won the war against Britain and claimed their independence.
