- Star wars was created due to rising tension between the US and the Soviet Union and it got it’s name from the recently released movie at the time, Star Wars. 
- “The weapons required included space- and ground-based nuclear X-ray lasers, subatomic particle beams, and computer-guided projectiles fired by electromagnetic rail guns—all under the central control of a supercomputer system.” 
- The system was meant to shoot down possible missiles coming from Cuba or other places in the world
- The program didn’t have the competent funding so it never really became much; it came and went within a short amount of time.
