Wilson Rawls was born in September 24, 1913 in Scraper Oklahoma. He was raised on a farm in the Ozark Mountains. In his lifetime Wilson Rawls made two books his first novel the Where the Red Fern Grows published in 1961 which Wilson Rawls burned up. A text that shows this is, “ Wilson Rawls burned the first version of Where the Red Fern Grows. “ I was sure it’s was pure trash,” Rawls told a reporter.” The Red Fern Grows was also published into a movie narrator by Wilson Rawls himself. His second novel Summer of the Monkeys which was published in 1976. This book received multiple awards and was made into a movie in 1998. Wilson ended up dying in December16, 1984. With one regret in the text it shows,” He would have liked to have shown a copy of his book to his father and say, “It took a long time, Dad, I made it.”
